the morning sun filtered through the sheer curtains of lucille's bedroom, casting a soft golden glow across her peaceful face as she stirred from sleep. her mind, however, was far from peaceful. it was consumed with thoughts of the previous night—the kiss with dallas that had stirred something deep within her, something she simply couldn't ignore.

she sat up slowly, her tousled hair falling in waves around her shoulders as she replayed the moment in her mind. the warmth of dallas's lips against hers, the way his touch sent shivers down her spine—it was a memory she couldn't shake, nor did she want to.

but alongside the rush of excitement came a wave of guilt and apprehension. she had to face edward, her boyfriend of two years, and tell him the truth. the thought made her stomach churn with unease, but she knew she couldn't continue living a lie.

taking a deep breath, lucille reached for her phone and dialed edward's number. each ring felt like an eternity until finally, his voice came through the line."hey beautiful. what's up?" edward's voice was warm, but there was an undercurrent of tension that lucille couldn't ignore.

"can we meet up somewhere? i need to talk to you," lucille said, her voice steady despite the nerves fluttering in her chest."sure, yeah. where do you want to meet?" edward replied, his curiosity evident.

"the dingo. in an hour?" lucille suggested, feeling a knot form in her stomach at the impending conversation."yeah, i'll see you there," edward agreed before they hung up.

lucille took a moment to compose herself before getting dressed. she chose a simple yet elegant outfit—a white shirt paired with jeans and flats. as she glanced at herself in the mirror, she couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt at what she was about to do.

when she arrived at the dingo, the familiar sights and sounds of the diner offered little comfort. she spotted edward sitting in a booth near the back, his expression a mix of curiosity and concern as he watched her approach.

"hey," lucille greeted him as she slid into the booth opposite him."hey," edward replied, his eyes searching hers for any clues about why she had called this meeting.

lucille took a deep breath, steeling herself for what she had to say. "edward, i... i need to talk to you about something important." edward's brow furrowed slightly, a sense of unease creeping into his features.

"okay, shoot. what's on your mind?" lucille hesitated, her words caught in her throat for a moment. "i... i think we need to break up." the words hung heavy in the air, the silence that followed deafening. edward's eyes widened in disbelief, his initial shock giving way to anger.

"what? why?" edward's voice rose slightly, drawing the attention of nearby patrons."i... it's complicated," lucille began, her voice barely above a whisper. "i just... i don't think we're right for each other anymore."

edward's expression darkened, his jaw clenching as he struggled to contain his emotions. "is this about the other night? is there someone else now?" lucille shook her head, her heart aching at the hurt in edward's eyes. "it's not about someone else, edward. it's about us, about what we want."
