I couldn't still the tremors coursing through me; my whole body quivered uncontrollably. My palms glistened with sweat, and a lump formed in my throat, choking back the rising panic. Each breath I took seemed to fuel the fire in my chest, intensifying the ache with every heartbeat. With a sudden yelp, I squeezed my eyes shut, overwhelmed by the suffocating weight of my anxiety.

A gentle touch broke through the chaos, and I startled, eyes snapping open to meet the concerned gaze of the air hostess. Her furrowed brow mirrored the turmoil within me, and her voice dripped with genuine worry.

"Are you alright?"

Her words cut through the haze of my distress, stirring an even deeper well of emotion within me. I struggled to contain the tears threatening to spill, nodding weakly in response.

It was the second time I found myself engulfed in a panic attack, and without Mason by my side, I felt utterly adrift.

"Would you like something to eat?" The air hostess gestured towards the food trolley, its tempting aroma wafting through the cabin. My stomach churned at the thought, and I shook my head in refusal.

"No, thank you. I need to use the restroom. Could you tell me which way?"

My voice trembled, barely audible above the hum of the plane. She pointed towards the rear, and I made my way there, my steps unsteady.

Inside the restroom, I locked the door behind me, seeking solace in the dimly lit space. My reflection greeted me in the mirror, revealing bloodshot eyes rimmed with exhaustion and cheeks stained with tears. A flush of heat suffused my forehead, and I splashed cool water on my face, hoping to quell the rising tide of panic.

As a knock echoed through the confined space, I felt the familiar sting of tears threatening to spill over.

Emerging from the restroom, I navigated the narrow aisle, the world tilting and swaying around me.

Amidst the sea of unfamiliar faces, a familiar sight caught my eye, and despite the turmoil within me, a soft giggle bubbled up from deep within.

Mom's glare bore into me with palpable intensity, her frustration evident even from a distance. Beside her sat a young man, clutching a sandwich in one hand. With a sly smirk, I met her gaze, silently daring her to challenge me. What had she expected? For me to grovel to the flight attendants, begging them to rearrange our seats and prolong my torment? I may have my faults, but I wasn't about to subject myself to that kind of ordeal.

As I attempted to relax into my seat, a soft laughter echoed in my mind, a stark contrast to the residual tension coursing through my body.

Though my heart had finally settled into a gentle rhythm, my eyes still throbbed with exhaustion, and beads of sweat lingered on my skin.

Determined to shake off the remnants of my panic, I tore my gaze away from the window, where trillions of lights twinkled like distant stars, casting a mesmerizing glow upon the Earth below.

For a fleeting moment, the sight brought a smile to my lips, but as I turned my attention skyward in search of the moon, a wave of vertigo washed over me.

The vast expanse between the plane and the Earth below suddenly seemed daunting, igniting a primal fear of falling. A panicked scream tore from my throat as I imagined my feet slipping on the smooth plane floor, sending me hurtling into the void.

The cabin plunged into darkness as I screamed, but the passenger beside me switched on his cabin light, casting a soft glow over the scene. His concerned frown drew my gaze, and I realized with a start that I hadn't been alone all this time.

I nodded in response to his inquiry, avoiding his gaze as the air hostess materialized beside us, her concern palpable.

"Is everything alright here?" she asked, her voice gentle yet firm.

"I think she's feeling unwell," the man whispered, his eyes flickering with concern.

With my face buried in my hands, I listened to their exchange, feeling the weight of their worry pressing down on me.

"Ma'am, can you hear me? Do you need any assistance?" the air hostess inquired, her voice laced with genuine concern.

"I'm fine," I replied, sitting upright and taking a deep breath. "But could you do me a favor, please?"

"Of course," she replied, her smile unwavering.

"I... I'd like to lie down for a while. Are there any empty seats available?"

"I can check for you," she offered kindly.

"Please, and thank you," I whispered gratefully, resting my head in my hands once more as she disappeared into the dimly lit cabin.

The soft glow of the cabin light bathed my face, casting shadows across my features as I contemplated my next move. Before I could voice my request to the man beside me, the air hostess returned with an offer.

"Hi, there are three empty seats in a row at the back of the plane. Would you like to move there?"

"Could you guide me? I might need some help," I replied, offering a tentative smile.

"Of course," she said, waiting patiently as I rose from my seat.

The man shifted his legs to allow me passage, and I offered him a grateful nod as I made my way toward the back of the plane, following the air hostess's lead.

"Thank you," I murmured; as we reached the empty seats.

With a sigh of relief, I settled into the comfortable bed I had fashioned from the seats, pulling up the armrests to create a makeshift pillow. The air hostess returned with a pillow and sheet, which I accepted with a word of thanks.

As I lay there, the tension slowly began to ebb away, replaced by a sense of tranquility. I closed my eyes, hoping to find solace in sleep, but instead, memories of the evening flooded my mind, refusing to be ignored.

*A Midnight update* I know y'all are eager to know what happened at the party, and in next episode we will discover that part. Note: it's a mystery+romance story, a tease is a must, no? :D
