In the heart of Wales, behind the walls of the grandest estate in the city, lies a hidden gem: sixteen-year-old Anna Hussain. With her mother as serene as the morning mist and her father a vibrant burst of color, Anna grapples with her identity-caug...
Hi folks, I am so excited for I am working on the paperback and two more books of mine. One short story collection paperback is coming out next week hopefully. It finally rained in my city so happy yay! ❤
The dull blue curtains danced lazily with each whisper of the wind outside. Through one eye, I caught glimpses of the breaking dawn peeking through the gaps, a soft promise of a new day.
Reluctantly, I rose from the comfort of my pillow, feeling the weight of the unfamiliarity in the air. With each step on the cold tiled floor, I approached the window, determined to confront the reality that lay beyond those curtains.
As I tore the curtains apart, expecting to find the familiar sight of dawn, I was met with a jarring truth.
No gentle breeze rustled light blue curtains; instead, thick velvet ones in a deep maroon obscured my view. The window remained tightly shut, shutting me off from the outside world.
Standing back, I took it all in, feeling the weight of displacement settle upon me. This was not my bedroom in Cardiff; this was my room in my mother's mansion, nestled in my father's homeland.
Though this room held fragments of memories, it felt foreign, like a puzzle piece forced into the wrong picture. I was a stranger in my own space, trapped by circumstance.
Seated by the window, I unlocked it, allowing the cold night air to kiss my face. It was a bittersweet sensation, a reminder of the freedom I craved yet couldn't grasp. The symphony of crickets serenaded the night, their melody a stark contrast to the upheaval within me.
"Dear Moon, guide me through this darkness."
I whispered, seeking solace in the silver glow. The moon remained silent, a silent witness to my inner turmoil.
Reflections of missed blessings flooded my mind as I sat there, grappling with the harsh reality of my situation. Each breath, each sunrise, each mundane moment taken for granted now seemed precious in hindsight. I had failed to appreciate the simple joys of life until they were ripped away from me, leaving behind a void I couldn't fill.
A sudden bout of hiccups jolted me from my reverie, a harsh reminder of my physical and emotional pain.
I reached for the glass of water on the table, chuckling bitterly at the sight of painkillers nearby. It was a futile attempt to numb the ache within, a temporary fix for a deeper wound.
With a resigned sigh, I tossed the tablets aside, opting instead for the cold water that stung my aching jaw.
Returning to bed, I cocooned myself in the sheets, seeking refuge in sleep's embrace, if only to escape the harsh reality of my waking hours.

"Mom? Is that you?"
In the darkness, a figure stood before me, illuminated by a distant light. With cautious steps, I approached, uncertainty gnawing at my insides. Was it really her, or just a trick of the shadows?
"Mom? Can you hear me?"
The words hung in the air, unanswered, as a new figure emerged from the darkness.
"Dad?!"
My heart skipped a beat as he turned towards me, his face bathed in the dim glow. Tears welled up in my eyes as I reached out to him, longing for the comfort of his embrace.
"Dad, is it really you?"
I whispered, my voice trembling with emotion.
"Yes, honey, it's me. Your daddy."
His voice washed over me like a warm embrace, filling the void left by his absence. In that moment, I felt whole again, surrounded by his love and warmth.
"Dad, I missed you so much!"
I sobbed, clinging to him desperately.
He held me close, his presence a balm to my wounded soul. But as I looked up, he vanished into thin air, leaving me alone in the darkness once more.
"Dad!?"
Panic surged as I realized I was trapped, bound by unseen chains. Gasping for air, I cried out for help, the darkness closing in around me.
