As I descended the stairs, the voices of my male cousins greeted me in the kitchen, their impatient tones breaking through the air like thunderclouds on a stormy day.

"Hey! Why didn't you change?" one of them demanded, his voice sharp with irritation.

"How long does it take girls to change their damn clothes?" another grumbled, his frustration palpable in the air.

"Are we really going to waste these tickets?" a third one added, his voice tinged with disappointment.

Ignoring their questions, I made my way to the water dispenser, feeling the coolness of the glass against my skin as I poured myself a drink. Downing it in one gulp, I left the glass on the marble counter, my palms resting on its smooth surface.

Lost in my own thoughts, I barely noticed the hand that landed on my shoulder until I forced myself to turn around, finding my cousin Tamimi standing behind me, his expression serious and concerned, like a lighthouse in the midst of a raging sea.

"Is everything alright?" he asked softly, his voice a beacon of calm in the chaos swirling around me.

Struggling to hold back tears, I looked away, my throat tight with emotion. In that moment, all I wanted was my dad, his comforting presence a shield against the turmoil of my emotions. Nodding slightly, I brushed past Tamimi and headed to the living room, seeking solace by the window.

The bright afternoon sun poured in, casting warmth over the room and casting shadows that danced like whispers on the walls. Despite my turmoil, the sight outside brought a sense of comfort; summers in Pakistan always felt alive and vibrant, like a balm for the soul.

Before I could gather my thoughts, Olivia's voice cut through the air, her smirk evident even from a distance, like a mischievous sprite playing tricks in the garden.

"We're now gonna drag you out in this dress!" she declared triumphantly, her words echoing like a challenge in the air.

Startled, I turned towards the sound, only to have hands grab me by the wrists, pulling me away with surprising force.

My protests fell on deaf ears as I stumbled along, my feet sliding on the tiled floor like a ship caught in a tempest. With a loud bang, the main door shut behind us, sealing our fate like the closing of a heavy iron gate.

As Tamimi raced to the garage, the others stood around me, laughing at my predicament. Glaring at Olivia, Sylvia, Linus, and Magnus, who still gripped my wrists, I demanded to be released, my voice a thunderclap in the stillness of the moment.

"Guys, I'm not going back in. Free my wrists," I insisted, my words a challenge to their authority.

Though Linus and Magnus complied, Olivia and Sylvia remained unfazed, their nonchalant shrugs infuriating me.

Watching my younger cousins playing carefree outside, a pang of longing washed over me, longing for the simplicity of childhood, for the days when life was as simple as a game of hide and seek in the garden.

Suddenly, the roar of a car engine filled the air, drawing my attention like a siren's call in the night. I watched in awe as Tamimi drove a sleek black sports car into the garage, its presence commanding attention like a king returning to his castle.

My eyes widened as Linus made a dramatic comment about Tamimi's dating prospects, and I found myself whispering in disbelief, my voice barely a whisper in the cacophony of the moment.

"Does he own this?"

Without missing a beat, Magnus confirmed, "Of course he does! His dad is rich, and so is his mom. Did you see their new house?"

"Nope," I replied, still in shock as I stared at the car in awe.

Tamimi stepped up on the step, effortlessly hoisting his younger brother Alex into his arms.

Alex was as strikingly handsome as his older brother, with the same naturally black hair and brown eyes.

Tamimi motioned for us to follow him to his car, and as we approached, I couldn't help but marvel at its beauty. The interior was just as stunning as it had appeared in the advertisements, with luxurious leather seats and state-of-the-art features.

I wondered about the cost of such a vehicle, purchased even before its official launch. I slid into the backseat alongside Sylvia, Olivia, and her brother Barron, while the younger ones found spots on our laps. My lap, however, was small, and I could only accommodate Rim.

As Tamimi started the engine, Linus suggested we might need another car due to the lack of space. Magnus, with a smirk, dismissed the idea, boasting about his new acquisition as he settled into the front seat.

Linus's attempt to kick the car tire in frustration only resulted in him hopping on one leg, cursing in defeat, much to our amusement.

As we began our journey, Linus suggested that Tamimi demonstrate some of his driving skills.

The anticipation in the air was palpable as everyone buckled their seat belts, while I remained the only one frowning, uncertain of what was to come. Suddenly, the engine roared like a lion, and the car accelerated with a ferocity that left me breathless.

Gripping Rim tightly, I couldn't help but scream in panic as we hurtled forward, the scent of leather and cigar smoke mingling in the air. The car seemed to transform into a rollercoaster, exhilarating and terrifying all at once.

Thankfully, there were no neighbors to complain about the noise as Tamimi eventually slowed down, shooting me a dirty look in the rear-view mirror. I returned his glare defiantly, reminding him to be extra cautious with kids on board.

For the remainder of the journey, Tamimi maintained a more reasonable speed, allowing me to finally appreciate the scenery passing by. As we reached the highway, the city unfolded before us, its familiar sights bringing a sense of comfort amidst the chaos.
