I have been so caught up in my head lately, I had to remind myself there is a world of Anna awaiting an update. As you are going deeper into her world, learning her truths. I hope you know this, that somewhere out there, there is Anna hoping beyond hope a love that consumes her, a life that fills her. If you ever come across her, save her. If you are her, you got this.
Thank you for being patient with me. <3
The following morning, I woke with an unexpected smile gracing my lips. Glancing at the clock, I realized it was already ten o'clock—a significant delay from my usual breakfast routine.
But today felt different, a deviation from the mundane. With a sense of rebellious glee, I relished the idea of being fashionably late for breakfast.
Summoning Nancy Maa through the intercom, I could almost envision her startled expression as I placed my order: desi ghee ke paratha with egg omelette and a steaming cup of coffee.
It was a departure from the usual fare in the household, typically reserved for Tamimi's family and Rim’s, who had developed a taste for desi cuisine during their stay.
Scampering to my closet, I retrieved the white tee Adam had gifted me.
Its whimsical design, featuring a 3D rainbow and a playful teddy bear, brought a nostalgic warmth to my heart. Paired with blue jeans and pristine white sneakers, I caught sight of my reflection and noted the fading bruise on my face. A dab of makeup would soon render it invisible.
Descending the staircase, I was greeted by a curious commotion emanating from the movie theater, the rest of the house oddly quiet.
Making my way to the kitchen, I found Barron perched on a barstool, nibbling on a sandwich.
"What's up, boy?"
I greeted him, sliding onto the stool beside him. His surprise was evident, momentarily concealed as he returned the greeting between bites.
"Stomach flu last night," he explained with a grimace, "This is all I could stomach."
Offering a sympathetic nod, I focused on my own breakfast. Barron's reaction to my meal drew a frown, quickly brushed aside as I delved into my food.
Just then, Tamimi's arrival interrupted our exchange, and I greeted him with a warm smile.
His evident surprise at my demeanor prompted a flicker of amusement in my chest as he settled into the seat vacated by Barron.
"Morning." He greeted, his raised eyebrows betraying his curiosity.
"Mornin', sunshine," I responded automatically, a twinge of nostalgia tugging at my heartstrings as memories of Adam flooded back.
Tamimi's concern was palpable, and I offered a murmured "Thank you," before returning to my meal.
While his support was comforting, I knew that when it came to making decisions, I had to rely on my own strength.
As I savored my breakfast, a wave of apprehension washed over me. I hoped to maintain this newfound courage in the face of my mother's inevitable disapproval.
Feedback maybe?
