It was now morning and i got up and started preparing for Varsity . i entered my bathroom and as I stood in front of the mirror, staring at the stranger who stared back. I saw a woman with a worn face, tired eyes, and a hesitant smile. I saw a woman who had been hiding behind masks and excuses, afraid to reveal her true self.
I remembered the words of my mother, 'You're too much, Larisa .How could you stab your twin sister like that .I curse the day you were born .You were the mature one but i never expected you to be a monster and she slapped me.I remember my cousins standing there and looking at me sternly and then i remembered when Alec said just die for all we care and that had stab my heart into little piceses. I opened my eyes and said no more tears .You no longer Larisa ,You are Letricia .You are mom and Dads little Cupcake .I smiled and went to get ready. After an hour i was done and went and stood in front of the mirror and saw how I had internalized those words, how I had made them my own.But as I gazed deeper into the mirror, I saw something else. I saw a glimmer of the girl I used to be, the girl who was full of life, laughter, and dreams. I saw a spark of the woman I could become, the woman who was strong, resilient, Beautiful.I saw Letricia who has grown up being smart and loving and in that moment, I made a choice. I chose to shatter the mirror, to break free from the reflections of my past. I chose to embrace my true self, flaws and all.
I smiled and walked out ,had my breakfast said goodbye to Mom and Dad and headed to varsity.Just when i thought i could live my life normally and be happy
