As they stood victorious over Phoenix, Ragely's thoughts lingered on Axel's words: "I owe you one." He wondered if Axel felt the same way, if he saw their partnership as something more.
Their mission debriefing was brief, with their agency, Spectrum, praising their teamwork and quick thinking. As they parted ways, Axel turned to Ragely with a curious expression.
"Hey, Ragely? Can I ask you something?"
Ragely's heart skipped a beat. "Of course, Axel. What's on your mind?"
Axel hesitated, his eyes searching for the right words. "I just wanted to say...I really appreciate you having my back out there. You saved my life, Ragely."
Ragely smiled, his voice barely above a whisper. "Anytime, Axel. That's what partners are for."
Axel nodded, his gaze lingering on Ragely's face. "Yeah. Partners."
The moment hung between them, filled with unspoken emotions. Ragely longed to confess his feelings, but fear held him back.
As they went their separate ways, Ragely couldn't shake off the feeling that Axel felt the same way. He hoped that someday, they would find the courage to reveal their true emotions and take their partnership to the next level.
