Axel POV

I woke up with a start, my heart racing and my sheets drenched in sweat. The memories of the battle, of My betrayal and Ragely's wounds, still lingered in my mind like a ghost. I sat up, my legs shaking beneath me, and rubbed my eyes. It was dark outside, the only light coming from the moon casting a silver glow through the window.

My heart still raced from the nightmare, my mind replaying the worst moments of the battle. I threw off the covers and got out of bed, my legs wobbly beneath me. I stumbled to the bathroom, flipping on the light switch and squinting in the bright light. My eyes adjusted slowly, and I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. My face was pale, my eyes sunken and dark. My legs were still bandaged, the wounds throbbing with a dull ache.

I sighed, running a hand through my messy hair. I looked like hell, and I felt worse. I hobbled back to the bedroom, my eyes scanning the dark room for any sign of Ragely. But the bed was empty, the sheets rumpled and cold. My heart sank, a pang of fear shooting through my chest.

"Ragely?" I called out, my voice barely above a whisper.

There was no answer, only the silence of the night. My heart raced faster, my mind racing with worst-case scenarios. Had Ragely left me? Had he gone to find Nova, to exact revenge for her betrayal?

But then I saw him, a figure on the couch, shrouded in shadows. My heart skipped a beat as I realized it was Ragely, his eyes fixed on me with an intensity that made my heart race.

"Ragely?" I called out again, my voice a little louder this time.

His eyes never left mine, his expression unreadable in the darkness. I felt a shiver run down my spine as he slowly got up from the couch, his movements fluid and graceful.

"Axel," he said, his voice low and husky. "You're awake."

I nodded, my heart still racing from the nightmare. "I had a bad dream," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

Ragely's expression softened, his eyes filled with a deep concern. "Come here," he said, his voice gentle.

I hesitated for a moment, my heart pounding in my chest. But something about Ragely's words, about his gentle tone, made me feel safe. I stumbled towards him, my legs still shaking beneath me.

Ragely caught me, his arms wrapping around my waist like a vice. I felt a sense of security, of safety, as his warmth enveloped me.

"I'm here," he whispered, his breath hot against my ear. "I'm not going anywhere."

I nodded, my heart still racing from the nightmare. But with Ragely's arms around me, I felt like I could face anything. Even the darkness of my own mind.

As we stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, I felt a sense of belonging I'd never experienced before. It was as if I'd finally found a home.

Ragely's gentle touch ignited a spark within me, a flame that burned bright and true. I knew in that moment that I will always be in love with him, that I wanted to spend the rest of my life in his arms.

But as I pulled back to gaze into his eyes, I saw a flicker of doubt there, a hint of uncertainty that made my heart skip a beat.

"Ragely?" I whispered, my voice barely audible.

But whatever he was about to say was lost in the darkness, swallowed up by the shadows that haunted us both......................
