August 28th 1856

Mike and Cole sat together talking, it seems like when one topic dies a new one immediately emerges and they never run out of things to talk about. Oliver wasted no time to show off his very obvious annoyance about this whole ordeal.

"Oliver!" He looked over to see Cole and Mike staring at him with excitement gleaming in their eyes. "It's time." Cole said, anticipation dripping from his voice. "Cole, I-"
"Oliver." Cole said cutting off what Oliver was going to say. "Can we talk about this please."
"Look," Mike said breaking up the tension in the air. "I know that this is irreversible an-"
"This has absolutely nothing to do with you Mike. But it has everything to do with him being selfish and not wanting to share his magic." Oliver stood there, dumbfounded. "Cole are you serious?" Oliver asked lightly. He couldn't believe the way Cole was talking about him. Everyone stayed silent for a couple seconds. "Yeah, you have this, this gift. And you dont want to share it with anyone. It's extremely selfish." Instead of engaging with the conversation Oliver grabbed his book and left. He didn't feel like sticking around and ruining another life.

......

Later that night Oliver was in the basement of Cole's childhood home. He sat on his knees and began chanting.

"Spiritus super me veni et loqui"

A flash of bright white followed by a puff of black smoke filled the room. "My child." The ominous figure said, it's voice was deep and rugged, but it had a strange comforting factor. "How do I reverse it?" Oliver asked staring up at the silhouette, "You can't, Oliver. You made your choice, and Cole just made his." The spirt fades away before Oliver could ask for clarification.

Moments later he heard the front door open and shut, Cole was home. Oliver walked upstairs and saw cole in the kitchen washing his face. "Catch a squirrel on your way home?" Cole shook his head, "Okay so a bunny?" Once again Cole shook his head. "Alright so what did you have for dinner that stained your face red. Cole stayed silent for a minute. "Did you really think i was stupid?" Oliver turned to fully face Cole while Cole dropped the towel from his face and leaned closer to the sink. "What?"

"Oliver, I know what i am. I know that if i kill someone i have the power to turn them. The only reason I haven't in the past is because i felt the need to run it by you!" Oliver took a step back, "You knew?"

"Of course i knew! I also knew that 132 years ago you blamed me for everything that happened to us! Because i cant hear your thoughts, i can see your regret!" Oliver's face became emotionless, his whole body became numb. Cole promised to never talk about what happened, Oliver's wounds were still healing. "I'm not as stupid as you think." Cole walked out of the room making sure to slam his door as he went into his own room.

Even the thought of what happened that night made Oliver's breathing become unstable. He held his chest as it tightened and fell to the floor with tears falling down his face. "Alison..." He whispered his sister's name into the air as if it would bring her back.
