March 1896
"How is your letter going?" Rosalie asked Sebastian as he was hunched over the small kitchen table in their Cragcroft home.
Sebastian had quickly began moving his belongings from Anne and David's cottage into his new home he now shared with Rosalie. They were the topic amongst the townspeople, with their relationship moving forward so quickly and all, but the two of them have waited years for this.
"Not very well," Sebastian scoffed as he frustratedly rubbed his temples.
He had been sitting in the same spot for over an hour with his quill and a small pile of crumpled parchment; he had been trying to write a letter to St. Mungo's to enroll in their Healer training course. Rosalie stood behind him and gently wrapped her arms around his neck as she propped her chin onto his head.
"What have you written so far?" she asked curiously and peeked at his new parchment.
"Dear Madam Dyer," he read aloud flatly.
Rose shrugged her shoulders. "That's a good start," she tried to encourage.
He groaned as he took his right hand and softly rubbed her arms that were still around his neck. "That's all I've written... multiple times. I believe I've got the greeting down, but I'm not sure how to approach this."
"Well, maybe I can help," she offered as she snuck out of his grasp and sat down next to him. "Let's see," she whispered to herself as she stared at the three words and tapped her fingers on the wooden table. "Hmm, can I see your quill?"
Sebastian nodded his head, and he handed Rosalie his quill. She began roughly outlining a letter, along with scribbling a few sentences to guide Sebastian in the right direction. After a few moments, Rosalie slid the parchment paper back into Sebastian's view and waited for him to read over. His eyes scanned over the words; his eyes lit up as an idea appeared into his head.
"Thank you, Rosie," he smiled at her and began scratching his quill against a new sheet of parchment.
"I'll make us some tea."
Rose stood up from the table and began preparing a kettle of water over the opened flame on the stove. Out of the corner of her eye, she watched Sebastian intently. His longer curls were now trimmed and refined, but his hair still remained a tousled mess. A small stubble appeared along his sharp jawline and prominent, slim cheeks; it was a sign of their age. Sebastian now was taller and leaner, but he was still as handsome as the first day Rosalie laid her eyes on him... if not more.
She remembers being that small sixteen-year-old girl who helplessly fell headfirst in love with him. The amount of pain they endured with each other was a staggering ladder they climbed and overcame. If only she knew then what she was experiencing now. It was finally a real chance of happiness with him; when he held her in his arms, it felt like a domain of infinite love. The outside world didn't exist when Sebastian was around, that's how it's always been. But now, it truly felt like they lived in their own bubble. They shared jokes only they understood. They shared a love like no other, containing of small gestures and whispers of sweet nothings. They learned to live with each other with ease, and they created a new routine so easily. Their new life together was more than she could ever dream of. A love that will endlessly enflammé her soul.
