Taylor Swift - You Are In Love

~ * * ˏˋ ☾ ˎˊ * * ~

Early April 1897

The dimly light sun had put a damper on the day. The April air was cool—chilling even. The coastal air was mixed with sea salt and the smell of rain. Sebastian and Anne were working in the garden, preparing it for the upcoming season.

Anne's belly was large underneath her brown dress. It would be any day now that her precious, miracle child would come into this world. She constantly worried about that day. She always ran her hand on her stomach, creating chills that were sent down her spine.

It was miraculous that she could even become pregnant. Anne never thought she could become a mother until it was actively happening, but it filled her with joy. She thought the years of the curse beating through her veins had broken her somehow. Yet, she stood in the garden holding the one thing she never knew she needed.

"Are you okay, Annie?" Sebastian asked; small sweat droplets were sliding from his temples as he was hunched over in the dirt.

Anne realized she had been staring out into the ocean lost in thought. "Oh, yes brother. I'm fine," she replied simply. Anne glanced over her shoulder at her brother, and the sight of him working exhausted her. "Would it be possible for me to head inside and rest?"

Sebastian peered up at her with restless, somber eyes. "Of course. I don't want you to strain yourself."

Anne gave a small nod, turned on her heel, and found her way inside her cottage home. It was quiet and peaceful. There was no one here to distract or disrupt her—besides her twin, but he will be busy for a while.

She walked through her familiar cottage; her hand still laid gently upon her stomach. She walked into the nursery that was once Rosalie's room when she stayed. The room that was once lined with books and journals was now filled with cloth diapers and blankets. Decorated in shades of yellow, the room felt bright, happier. The crib sat where Rosalie's bed once stood—by the window that looked out to the small peninsula that led into the sea. Small wooden lambs hung on the walls, and Anne had sewn together a cloth blanket with the small innocent animal on it.

She looked around the room, taking in the silence. Serenity settled over her. Anne rubbed the protruding bump; whether it be a boy or a girl, they were already so loved. As she stood there, she winced in pain. A small, harmful spasm tingled through her stomach.

"Merlin," she groaned. "That was a hard kick, little one." She gave her belly one last soft rub, and she slowly left the nursery.

A few moments later, Anne had found her way into the kitchen. She decided to make lunch for her and Sebastian; especially since he was working hard for her in the garden. She grabbed the loaf of bread she had baked and a few slices of cheese before she buckled over in pain once again, but this time, it hurt much more than the spasm prior. The sheer panic that washed over Anne's face; her realization that this was not the normal kicking of her child. She quickly walked outside to her brother; she needed her brother.
