It was the early morning of 20 June 1896. A beautiful, sunny Saturday that held many emotions, both sentimental and heartfelt. Today was the beginning of forever for Anne Marie Sallow and David Howard Pedersen.
Anne sat in a chair to face the mirror in her bedroom. She wrapped herself tightly into a white silk robe. The once ghostly girl was now a beautiful woman. The cure had finally resolved, leaving her full of her youthful life she thought she would never get to see again—lively skin, rosy plumped cheeks, and energy she hadn't possessed in years.
Rosalie began styling Anne's chestnut hair, humming a tune that mimicked the chime wedding bells. After she used a curling charm, she began pinning up small loose swoops and curls onto the back of Anne's head.
"Did Sebastian mention to you what time he'd be here?" Anne asked curiously through the mirror reflection.
Rosalie shook her head softly as she concentrated, "No, but he did say that his clinical trial shouldn't take all day."
Anne's lips formed into a small grin as Rosalie continued; she tried to hide her worry. It was still early in the day, and the wedding didn't start for a few more hours. Sebastian still had plenty of time to make it home. There was no reason to stress about it yet. Rose continued styling and swooping each strand of Anne's hair, placing each piece into its delicate reservation on her head. She left a few strands around her face out to frame her face and bangs. The final touch was pinning a blue hydrangea surrounded in white baby's breath with golden tendrils into her hair.
"And... finished!" Rosalie exclaimed, pulling her hands to her chest with excitement.
Anne straightened her posture as she examined her hairstyle. As she turned every which way, her smile grew wider with happiness. "It's lovely!" she called out.
"You also have your 'something blue'," Rose commented. "The pin in your hair," she pointed.
Anne strained her neck to the side as much as she could to view the small delicate blue hydrangea that laid elegantly upon her swoops. "Oh, Merlin. It's beautiful, Rosie! Thank you." Small pools of tears began forming in her eyes, but she quickly wiped them away.
Rosalie gave Anne's shoulder a loving squeeze, "Let me go find Grace. She desperately wanted to do your makeup."
"Well, what's wrong with how I do my makeup?" Anne pouted.
Rose chuckled, "Nothing is wrong with how you do it, Annie! Grace just wanted to perform a nice gesture for you."
Anne rolled her eyes, "Alright, but tell her to hurry!"
Rosalie smiled as she exited the bedroom. She walked through the hallway into the living area of the cottage. No one was inside. She proceeded out the front door and took a left towards the garden. Grace, David, Mister Teasdale, and Gwendoline were all working hard lining the garden with purple hydrangeas and organizing the decorations. The flowers popped beautifully against the white picket fence that surrounded them. The archway at the end of the small cobblestone path was decorated with the purple hydrangeas, white baby's breath, and ivy vines. Two rounded tables were on each side of the archway; they were lined with purple and white table clothes. One table was set to hold the wedding cake, the other was set to hold an assortment of sweet treats.
