"And if you hate me, please don't tell me."
Arabella POV
I sat on my bed and stared at Marvolo's Quidditch jersey, hoping it would magically walk back to his dorm on its own. Maybe there was a spell for that...
"It's not going to get up and walk itself, you know." Imelda stared at me with a raised brow from her bed.
"I just don't want it in here anymore. It's like it's haunting me."
"So go give it back!"
"I'm afraid to be alone with him, Imelda. He's been acting so odd lately. Yesterday he threatened to Crucio Liam Prewett after graduation because Prewett apparently said that I give 'good head.'"
"Well Liam's a cunt, and I would have said the same if I heard him speak about you that way. Men think they're invincible and can say whatever they want. Sometimes, there need to be consequences."
"I understand, but why Marvolo? He loves to torture me."
"Haven't you ever heard that boys are mean to girls they like? Steal their toys, pull their hair, all that childish shit. Maybe he likes you."
It couldn't be...did Marvolo like me? Every single terrible moment I've had at this school, he's been there to witness and relish in it. But the way he touched my hair before that Quidditch scrimmage, the way he was constantly staring at me with those bloody green eyes...
"You just love writing my love life, don't you Reyes? You've been right about every single thing you've ever said to me. Like you're writing a damn romance novel something."
"What can I say, I'm a hopeless romantic!"
"Or you're touch-starved."
"What kind of absurd muggle phrase is that?!"
"It means you need to get laid. I'm going to find someone for you, mark my words."
"You could always come over here and do it yourself. No one knows how to please a woman like another woman, darling."
She winked at me and we both erupted in laughter. I loved when Imelda flirted with me; she definitely had some good lines. She was beautiful too- it's unfortunate we live in a time where her preferences for the same sex aren't exactly accepted.
Hopefully everyone would stop being so single-minded in the future.
"You couldn't handle me, Imelda. But do keep trying, I may just give in one of these times."
I inhaled deeply and exhaled. "Alright, I'm just going to suck it up and go. Wish me luck."
"Use a protection spell!" I rolled my eyes at her as I picked up the jersey and journeyed to the seventh-year dorms. The third trial was fast approaching, followed by Christmas break, so it was now or never.
+++I knocked on the door lightly one time, hoping no one heard me. The door swung open, revealing Marvolo's roommate, Devon Greengrass.
"Can I help you?"
"Uhm. Yes. I uh- came to give this back to Marvolo. If he's not here though I can just leave it with you-"
Devon's lips turned up in a sly smirk as he opened the door wider to reveal a shirtless Marvolo, who was leaning backwards on a chair with his feet on his desk. Merlin's fucking twat, why did he have to be shirtless?
