Map B*tch
part 2
I lean against the row of lockers with Ant and Spider, the air buzzing with the chatter of students during lunch. Ant is mid-rant, his voice a mix of frustration and desperation as he slumps against the cool metal, his expression animated.
"Please let me move in with you two! I swear I'm gonna have to go to an all-boys boarding school or something," he whines, throwing his hands up in exasperation. The drama of his home life seems to overwhelm him.
"Yeah, but your mum probably thinks you're gay since Darren jerked you off," I tease, a playful laugh escaping my lips. Ant groans and pushes his head against the locker, his frustration palpable.
Just then, the door to the nurse's office swings open, and Amerie steps out, a tampon awkwardly shoved up her nose. She pulls it out with a look of mild annoyance and casually tosses it into the bin as she struts past us.
"Why'd she do that? Crazy bitch," Spider says loud enough for her to hear, amusement dancing in his tone as he watches her retreating figure.
"Ugh, my mum's gonna kill me because of her," Ant adds, shaking his head in disbelief. I roll my eyes, my annoyance with Amerie rising.
"Can't trust her or tell her anything now. She'll probably make a map about that too," I say, watching Amerie as she continues walking towards the girls' bathroom. Just as she reaches it, Harper spots her and immediately breaks away from her friends, leaving them trailing behind as she approaches Sasha.
"Oi, Sash," Amerie calls out, her voice sharp, causing Sasha to turn around slowly, her annoyance clear.
"So you've picked her side?" Amerie accuses, her tone defensive. Sasha stares at her, disbelief etched across her face.
"Are you kidding me? Dude, everyone's pissed. You broke people up. You outed people, and now all the work Missy and I did to stay friends after we broke up— that's fucked! It doesn't mean anything now because—" Sasha's voice cuts through the air, her frustration bubbling over.
"Harper did the map too!" Amerie interrupts, her eyes flashing with anger. I scoff, shaking my head at the ridiculousness of it all. Sasha raises her eyebrows, staring incredulously at Amerie.
"You know what really shits me? When people can't own up to their own actions. Look, I hope you're okay, I really do. But that map is seriously dog, and I think you need to do some work on yourself—like away from us," Sasha says, her voice firm as she walks away, leaving Amerie standing there, frustration radiating off her.
Amerie turns to me, her expression shifting from anger to desperation. "No, no, Am, look, I can't do this," I say, shaking my head in disbelief.
"I didn't do the map by myself! Harper—" she begins, her voice rising.
"Stop! Just stop! You can't keep blaming other people for your mess! You've done some seriously messed-up things, but dragging others down with you isn't going to fix it. Ams, this isn't fair! Just stay away from me! You're not okay—you need to talk to someone! Get your shit together, because all this reckless behaviour has real consequences!" My voice trembles with frustration, rising like a storm, each word crashing down harder than the last. "Ant's in deep shit with his mum because of you! He might not see the light of day again after he gets home! And Spider and I? Our mum is going to be livid, and we're going to be as good as dead!" My heart races, the urgency of the moment fueling my anger. "Own up to your shit! This isn't just your world! There are other people in it too! You can't just do whatever you want, thinking there won't be repercussions! Just because you want something doesn't mean it's gonna happen! If you don't wake up, you're going to cross a line you can't uncross, and when you do, it's going to be someone else who pays the price. It's going to be your fault!" The words spill out of me, raw and unfiltered, a desperate plea wrapped in fury.
