day prior

i was sitting on the sofa with my brother watching a movie until my mom came through the front door. "I could really use your help" my mom said coming in with groceries as we looked back at her, my brother and i quickly got up and put our shoes on to go outside and help. shorty after all the groceries were brought inside and put away, my brother and i decided to continue watching the movie. my mom was cooking spaghetti and called us when the food was ready, "scarlett! alexander! come eat!" she yelled out to us and we quickly went. i was eating my food in silence as no one was talking until alexander spoke, "so mom, what are we doing tomorrow" he said, "well, you and scarlett start your first day of school tomorrow and i have to work" my mother worked a lot and we rarely saw her. "when do you not work mom?" i asked and she looked at me and back at her food, "you know i work all the time scar, i try my best to be here and you know it" she said nearly raising her voice. soon after it went back to silence until she looked at her watch and stood up quickly, "i have to go back to work, and you two need to start going to sleep soon. latest you can sleep is at 10" she said before quickly giving us a kiss on our forehead and leaving. it was already 8 and i decided to just go to sleep. as i was heading upstairs alexander said something, "do you want to watch another movie scar?" he said looking up at me, "no i'm okay, i'm just going to sleep" i replied and gave a quick smile.

next morning

my alarm went off at 6:30 am, i turned it off and got on my phone. shortly after i got up and took a quick shower, i decided to wear leggings and a hoodie nothing too much. i went to my brothers room to wake him up but he wasn't in his room so i went downstairs, "morning scar" he said "morning" i said back walking to him. "i made pancakes, hopefully they aren't burned" he said and i just laughed, "why would they be burned" i asked while laughing and he just looked at me. after we finished eating i looked at my watch and noticed it was almost 8, "shit we're going to be late alex!" i said running up the stairs to get my phone, bag and shoes on. after we got everything alexander got his keys and we quickly ran to the car only to find out that it's pouring rain, some time had already passed and it was 8 already. we were late but we got to school and quickly ran to the front doors. the lady at the reception desk gave us our schedule and alexander and i had our first two lessons together, "great" i said sarcastically and he just punched my shoulder. we got to our first lesson which was english, as we walked in everyone was staring at us, "sorry to interrupt but are you ms k?" alexander asked. "yes i am, and you two are?" she said while going behind her desk to get a clipboard, "im alexander" said my brother and she looked at her board, nodded and signed something. she looked back at me, "im scarlett" i replied and i looked around the room just to meet eyes with this kid, gosh he was so attractive, he gave me a quick smile and before i could smile back alexander shoved me a little, "scarlett!" he whispered yelled. "i'm sorry, what was that" i replied, "you'll be next to uhm" the teacher said while looking around the class "walton" she said, "walton, raise your hand so ms brown can see you" she said and i looked around to see who this person was. it was the cute guy i made eye contact with, i went up to him and sat in the seat next to him. "hi i'm scarlett" i said trying to introduce myself, "you must be walton?" i asked and he looked over at me chuckling and shaking his head. "no my names jaden, but ms k calls people by their last name" he replied and i got red due to embarrassment, "oh" i said and he laughed. alexander got sat with a guy michael, alexander looked back at me and signaled me to look at my phone, so i did.

his name is jaden, and i found out the ms k calls people by their last name! weird isn't it?

i replied and i saw him quickly put his phone away, i wasn't sure why until i now knew. "ms brown, i do not tolerate phones being out while i'm teaching!" she yelled causing everyone to look back at me, i wanted to disappear. it was so embarrassing, even jaden was looking at me. "come up here, put your phone up and stay after class" she said, i slowly stood up and walked over to her desk and put my phone down on her desk. shortly after class ended everyone left and ms k left the classroom and told her students to wait and shut the door behind her on her way in, "i am aware that it is your first day and that you are not aware of my class rules. but if this happens once more then you would have a detention. do i make myself clear?" she said, "yes ma'am" i replied as she handed me my phone. i quickly walked away and ran to my next class, "i'm sorry i'm late. i was with another teacher" i said and she just nodded. i got seated with this girl daphne, "hey! i'm daphne" she said giving me a big smile "i'm scarlett! nice to meet you" i said and we both looked at the board. after class ended alexander came up to me, "who'd you sit with" i asked, "some girl named madeline" he replied.

soon after school ended we went to the car until someone came up to the car.
