Akutagawa woke up to the sound of his alarm clock ringing persistently. He groaned, reaching over to shut it off, and blinked. Today was a big day. He and Chuuya had a presentation for their art class, and they had spent countless nights working on their pieces.

He rolled over to face Chuuya, who was still fast asleep. Akutagawa smiled, brushing a stray lock of hair from Chuuya's forehead. He loved these quiet moments in the morning, where everything felt peaceful and perfect.

"Chuuya, wake up," Akutagawa whispered, gently shaking his shoulder. "We have to get ready."

Chuuya mumbled something unintelligible and buried his face in the pillow. Akutagawa chuckled, knowing how much Chuuya hated mornings.

"Come on, lazy," Akutagawa said, pressing a kiss to Chuuya's cheek. "We have got a presentation today. You don't want to be late, do you?"

With a groan, Chuuya sat up, rubbing his eyes. "Alright, alright, I'm up. But you owe me coffee for this."

Akutagawa laughed, getting out of bed and heading to the kitchen. He started making coffee while Chuuya shuffled into the bathroom. As coffee brewed, Akutagawa thought about their project. They had chosen to depict the concept of duality in their art. Light and darkness, love and pain.

Once the coffee was ready, Akutagawa poured two cups and brought them to small table by the window. Chuuya joined him in a few minutes later, looking more awake after a quick shower.

After finishing their coffee, they got dressed and packed their art supplies. Akutagawa glanced at the clock. They still had some time before they needed to leave, so they decided to walk to campus together, enjoying the crisp morning air.

After their presentation, they headed to the canteen for lunch. The place was crowded, as usual, but they managed to find a table in a corner. They were discussing their next project when they heard a loud, mocking voice nearby.

"Hey, look at the lovebirds," a student sneered. "What a joke."

Akutagawa's jaw clenched. He recognized the voice. It was Taro, a notorious troublemaker who always seemed to have a problem with them. Chuuya's face darkened, but he tried to ignore the taunts.

"Just ignore him," Chuuya muttered. "He is not worth it."

But Taro didn't stop. He continued to hurl insults, his voice growing louder and more obnoxious. "I don't know what Chuuya sees in you, Akutagawa. Must be desperate or blind."

Akutagawa's patience snapped. He stood up, fists clenched at his sides. "Say that again," he demanded, his voice low and dangerous.

Taro smirked, stepping closer. "You heard me. You are nothing but a joke, Akutagawa."

Before Chuuya could react, Akutagawa swung his fist, hitting Taro square in the jaw. The canteen fell silent as everyone turned to watch the unfolding scene. Taro staggered back, but quickly recovered, launching himself at Akutagawa.

The fight was brutal and quick. Akutagawa managed to land a few good punches, but Taro was bigger and stronger. He slammed Akutagawa against a table, causing him to cry out in pain. Chuuya tried to intervene, but someone held him back.

"Stop it!" Chuuya shouted, struggling against his restrainer. "Leave him alone!"

Finally, some of the other students pulled Taro away, and the canteen staff intervened. Akutagawa was left panting on the floor, a bruise already forming on his cheek. Chuuya rushed to his side, helping him up.

"Are you okay?" Chuuya asked, his voice filled with concern.

Akutagawa winced, touching his swollen cheek. "I'm fine," he said, though his voice wavered slightly. "Just a little sore."

The canteen staff escorted Taro out, and the crowd slowly dispersed. Chuuya guided Akutagawa to a nearby bench, where he could sit and catch his breath. He dabbed at Akutagawa's cheek with a napkin, trying to be as gentle as possible.

"You didn't have to do that," Chuuya said softly. "He was not worth it."

Akutagawa shook his head. "I couldn't just stand there and let him insult you. You mean too much to me."

Chuuya's eyes softened, and he leaned in to kiss Akutagawa's bruised cheek. "I know. And I love you for it. But I don't want you getting hurt because of me."

"I would do it again," Akutagawa said firmly and without hesitation. "I would do anything to protect you."

The rest of the afternoon passed in a blur. After the incident in the canteen, they decided to head back to their apartment. The atmosphere in the campus had become too tense, and they needed a break from the prying eyes and whispered comments.

"Let's just go home," Chuuya suggested, his voice soft but resolute. He had one arm wrapped protectively around Akutagawa's waist. "We need to take care of that bruise, anyway."

Akutagawa nodded, his cheek throbbing with a dull pain. The adrenaline from the fight had worn off, leaving him feeling sore and tired. "Yeah, let's go," he agreed.

The streets were bustling with people, but Akutagawa barely noticed. His mind was occupied with thoughts of the fight and anger he felt towards Taro. He squeezed Chuuya's hand, finding comfort in his presence.

Once they reached their apartment, Chuuya immediately led Akutagawa to the bathroom. He gently made him sit on the edge of the bathtub and began rummaging through the medicine cabinet for their first aid kit.

"Hold still," Chuuya instructed as he carefully dabbed at the bruise on Akutagawa's cheek with a cotton ball soaked in antiseptic. "This might sting a little."

Akutagawa winced but didn't pull away. "It's fine," he said, trying to reassure Chuuya. "I have had worse."

Chuuya's eyes flickered with worry as he continued to tend the bruise. "I know, but I hate seeing you get hurt because of me."

"It's not your fault," Akutagawa insisted. "Taro is just a bully. He needed to be put in his place."

Chuuya sighed, finishing up with the antiseptic. "I just wish we could avoid all this drama," he muttered, applying a bandage to the bruise. "We have enough on our plate with our projects and presentations."

Akutagawa nodded in agreement. "You are right. Let's focus on what matters. Speaking of which, we should start planning our next project."

Chuuya's face brightened at the change of subject. "Yeah, let's do that. How about we brainstorm over some tea?"

Akutagawa smiled. "Sounds perfect."
