"That book is the codebook for this pen." Ray said, looking at the pen once again, deciphering the code in order to use this mechanism. Emma had also brought along the mythology book with no morse code, as for that, that was our key in order to figure out this pen.
"Look. So you use this book to decipher the code. 13-18-02 is the code. You can move on if you enter the answer. For example, we look in the book for page 13, line 18, second word. The word is human." He explained to the two of us, typing in 'human' into the pen holographic screen, and with that the screen changed.
"If you need help, come see me I'm at location B06-32" It says it's from William Minerva!" I exclaimed, smiling at the two.
"Norman probably saw this. Then there's the next code and its answer. So there's information slit up and.." Ray suddenly stopped, we heard a loud grumbling in the forest behind us. It was approaching fast, a little too fast.
"Guys.." I whispered, looking around as Ray shut the pen quickly, tucking it away safely.
"Yeah. Something's coming." Ray said, and the tree right behind us exploded, sending wood chips everywhere. But that wasn't concerning at all, it was the demon that came charging at us. It was no demon I've ever seen before, it was huge, and it seemed mutilated. I got so scared I may as well have pissed myself right then and there, but by natural instincts, I ran. I ran for my life, catching up to Emma and Ray, seeing Emma almost trip; but being saved by Ray. I clasped onto Emmas other free hand, managing to run my way up so that Ray was now in the back, us letting each other go once we were sure we wouldn't fall.
"That's a beast!" I cried out, the sounds of children's yells being drowned out by my other oncoming set of migraines. But this time I fought them off with all my might, and this time it worked. Though it made me not feel to well, my running slowed, at least I didn't completely topple over. I watched in the distance as Don ad Gilda split into a formation, Gilda taking the slower kids as Don dodged through narrow areas to lose the Demon. Once they were out of sight, it was just the three of us left.
"I think I found a way to get rid of this Demon." Ray whispered to us, all of us hiding behind a tree, trying to scheme something quickly. That was a beast, not a demon who could speak to us, one that had two feet and hands. I knew that whatever demon that was, we couldn't defeat it, so the easier way was just to let it fall into a trap.
"I'll drop him in the trap of tree roots." Ray said, "I'll"? No way in hell was I letting him do another suicide mission.
"Got it, then we'll-" Emma started, but was cut off by Ray.
"No, I can do it on my own." He stopped her, and Emma looked concerned.
"Ray, no. You're not thinking of.." Emma said, but it was my time to butt in.
"He's not thinking of a suicide mission because I'm going to be helping him! Whether he likes it or not." I said, wrapping my arm around his neck and choking him slightly as a threat, then letting him go.
"What? Fine- whatever. With miss stubborn over here, I'm not going to sacrifice myself because we're in danger- which I wasn't going to do in the first place. We can do it because we can get it done. We're the better ones at tag, right?" He said, accepting his defeat that he was going to have me by his side to help, I wasn't going to let any of my family members die.
"Leave it so us. I promise we'll both return. Once I go, wait ten seconds and join the others. Run downwind. Got it?" Ray said, placing his hand on her shoulder, explaining what she needed to do. Once she nodded, and I squeezed her cheek in a small way to comfort her, we dashed in different directions, I was right beside Ray.
