"jey just I-" before you could say something he stepped closer to you lifting ur chin to have you meet his gaze..
then...
———————————————————————————
"you were looking at me like you wanted me, just admit it." his voice was low, barely a whisper, as he leaned in closer to you. his breath hot on your cheek.
"no I wasn't" you said as your guys eyes would not leave eachothers
"yes you were. I could see it in your eyes. The way they lit up when you looked at me. The way they darkened when I caught you staring." his hand reached out, brushing a stray lock of hair from your face. "I know what I see, ma."
you slapped his hand away "I have a match jey" you said but in reality you knew this was gonna throw you off guard
" always business, huh?" he chuckled, pulling his hand back. "But you can't deny there's something between us." he leaned in closer again, his lips almost brushing against your ear. "I can make you scream louder than any opponent in the ring."
you closed ur eyes taking a breath
" you keep pushing me away but I know you want me. I can see it in the way you look at me." he smirked, refusing to let you go. "But fine, I'll leave you to your match." he dropped his arm from around your waist and took a step back.
you stood in the mirror as you looked at yourself, trying to get ur mind back on track and in the right place
"you look amazing, you know that right?" he said, watching as you looked at yourself in the mirror. "You're a force to be reckoned with in the ring, but when you're not fighting, you are beautiful." he walked up behind you, placing his hands on your hips. "
"thank you"you said as you looked away from him
don't look away, don't deflect it. Smile, let me see that beautiful smile of yours." his tone was soft as he turned you to face him, lifting your chin up so you had no choice but to look at him. "
"jey I really think that you should go" you said as you looked at the floor
" why?" he asked, his eyes flicking to your hand as you reached for the door. "Talk to me, tell me what's going on in that pretty little head of yours. You can't shut me out, not when I'm trying here."
"I have a match jey, and I don't wanna get myself involved with you, I mean your you, I don't wanna get myself involved with that" you said finally looking up at him to see how he would react
"oh, now I'm 'that'? Is it really so bad for us to be together?" he asked softly. "I know you feel something too, I can see it in your eyes. Why are you pushing me away?" he frowned, taking a step closer to you. "
"why is it so hard for you to just not talk to me? I mean I have one of the biggest matches of my career and you can't just leave me alone" you said avoiding his gaze again
"I can't leave you alone because this thing between us is not something that can be swept under the rug... and I wouldn't want it to be!" he stepped close, invading your personal space, his hands resting on your hips. "I want you, even if I shouldn't.
"there's nothing between us" you said as you glared at him
"Liar," he murmured, searching your eyes for any sign of a spark. "I see the way you look at me, how your body responds to my touch. You can't deny it anymore than I can." he pulled you closer, not allowing you to escape him. "
"That's where you're wrong," he whispered, holding your gaze steady. "I can't forget the times we shared, the way we connected... I don't want to." he sighed, his fingers tracing a path up and down your arms. "Let me in, please...
when I tell you, it was taking everything in you , to not break and just let him in, it was taking everything but you couldn't , you couldn't let him in
""Why not?!" he demanded, stepping back as if you'd physically slapped him. "Is it so hard to give me a chance?" he frowned, his arms crossing over his chest. "
"yes actually it is!" you said getting annoyed with him
"Fine... I'll back off," he muttered, stepping away from you. "But know this - it wasn't easy for me to admit my feelings for you. And I won't easily forget what we had, no matter how much you try to deny it."
"now leave my locker room please" you said as you looked at him
"Yeah, I'm going," he muttered, making his way to the door. He paused and glanced back, his eyes lingering on you briefly before he left. It was clear he was hurt, but his stubborn side refused to let him show it.
after he left, you got your gear on and stretched , as now it was time for your match against becky
you grabbed ur phone and a bottle of water and we're making your way down to the gorilla
when what you saw made your heart sink...
