Chapter XXX - & Dreams

Brennen had come back to Utmärkt, but he did not know that the place he was in was a battlefield. He walked over to the broken debris and the atmosphere felt like someone was watching him. He heard people's battle cries, weapons clashing, and explosions everywhere until he saw his father, Chief Lau of Zauberhaft, wounded and lying on a log, "Father?" He asked, and Chief Lau, also in disbelief, replied with Brennen's first name, "Sonne?" He called Brennen by his first name. Brennen was terrified and rushed towards him, "FATHER!!" Then, he held his father's face, "If only there was something I could heal you! I do not have anything to save you!" And Chief Lau replied, "My son... It's too late... Die Verdorren had cast me with the Wither effect...". Brennen shouted, "No! No! No! Please don't go..." He buried his face on his father's chest and cried. "Brennen..." Said Chief Lau and lifted his face while his body slowly turned into ashes, "Look at me, son... I thought I had lost you but you are now here... But... You have to flee from this place... This place is a battlefield... Evoke's army and the Die Verdorren... Slowly eating away my people and Alexander's." "I do not want to leave you, Father! JUST PLEASE!! ANYONE!! I NEED HELP!!" Brennen cried for help and Chief Lau said his last words, "Brennen, finish your mission here on Earth... Finish Die Verdorren and... And... You are the best son I ever have..." And Chief Lau withered away and Brennen cried, "Why!? Why!? Why!? FATHER!! FATHER!! FATHER!!" He kneeled on both of his knees and punched the ground multiple times.

Suddenly, he heard voices, "Oh... Look at the Flaming Vanguard crying at his father's death..." The voice in the fog mocked him, "And you still live? What a useless child... You are too late and my army has started to engulf Utmärkt..." "Who goes there!?" Brennen pulled out his flaming ax. The voices he heard from the fog revealed himself, "Hello, Brennen. It is I Evoke..." He grinned maniacally in front of him and cast fangs that rose from the underground, Brennen jumped over and slashed him, but Evoke caught the ax and laughed at him, "Oh, the classic flamming ax attack? I WANNA SEE MORE!! FLAMING VANGUARD!!" and he summoned a minion of Vexes. Brennen casts fireballs to burn the attacking Vexes, "I had enough of your plans, Evoke!" And kicked Evoke's face. "Touché," said Evoke and threw harming potions at Brennen, and he screamed in pain, "Must... Never... Give up..." "Well, if I were you, I would give up because look at you, Brennen. Your mother, your sister, your father, and even Carla!? All of them are dead, Brennen. Every time I see you with your loved ones I take their lives," said Evoke, and his eyes glowed emerald green while he approached Brennen. Then, Evoke said, "Evoker means calling and I am the caller of evil... My mission in this world is to conquer and destroy everything for my wife! That's why my name is Evoke..." Then he pulled out a Withering Potion. "Please! Don't do this to me!" Brennen cried, and Evoke replied, "No, I want to see every family member of Lau having a slow and suffering death..." And he threw the Withering Potion and Brennen's body began to wither.

Brennen gasped for air while his legs started to rot and wither into ashes, and Evoke laughed at him, "Oh! Look at the little coward vanguard! Gasping for breath!". As Brennen is about to wither away, he remembers the bittersweet pasts, and when the curse is about to enter his dying determined heart, his heart is suddenly covered by flames, filled with the burn of determination and bravery. Then, he rushed to a cow and drank the milk. Brennen's body began to heal, his rusted iron ax ignited again, and his flaming hair began to shine and grow larger. Evoke saw it as a bad sign and backed away, and Brennen shouted, "Let the light shine out of the darkness!" the fog receded, light filled the darkness, and he exploded the surroundings. Then, Evoke pulled out his Totem of Undying so he would not die, and gritted his teeth, "What a stubborn child!" Then, he took an ax from a dead soldier.

Brennen slashes his flaming ax, and Evoke mimics Brennen's move; both of their flaming axes clash. "How can you do that?" Brennen was surprised, and Evoke, "Your attacks were so basic that I can replicate them!" Evoke jumped and swung his ax downwards, but Brennen backed off, did a side-flip, and chopped off Evoke's leg. Evoke evokes his Totem of Undying to heal him and slices Brennen in half. Brennen screamed in pain, "AGH!! MY LEGS!!" And Evoke laughed, "Ohohoho! Looks like you are about to die like your sister." He grinned at Brennen's face. As Brennen is about to die, he hears the voice from Notch, "Brennen, thou art about to perish, doth not give up, let the Brennen Dragon take over you and be filled with purple flames that burn more than the red flames." Brennen let the dragon's spirit take over him.
