Chapter XI - Problem

After King Alexander heard that King James' son turned into an undead person, he suddenly became intrigued.

King Alexander: Your son became a zombie?

King James: Yes, and I tied his soul to a monster spawner, so he won't be gone in this world.

King Alexander: That sounds crazy! And you tied his soul to a monster spawner?

King James nods.

King James: And I'm also trying to find a way to cure him and my people who have been infected.

King Alexander thinks and suddenly has an idea.

King Alexander: Tell me where your son is, and I'll call the cold mage and my royal scientist.

King James was surprised and was happy to see that his ally wanted to help him.
 
King James: Thank you, Alexander.

King Alexander: You are welcome, King James.

King James: You shall go first by getting your royal scientist and the cold mage. Then, I'll lead you to the dungeon.

King Alexander nodded to King James' decision and went to an inn where Stark, Frieren, Eren, Brennen, Carla, and Stein stayed.

King Alexander: Stark and Frieren, could you two talk to me for a minute?

Stark: Sure, your majesty.

Frieren: What is it, sire?

King Alexander: You two are requested to help King James.

Stark: Is this some kind of experiment?

King Alexander: Yes, and it's very important.

Frieren: How important?

Frieren raised her eyebrow.

King Alexander: really, important. There's so so-called Nether virus in this kingdom. You, Stark, and I will help King James.

Frieren and Stark agreed to King Alexander's decision. Suddenly, Carla stood up and said to them.

Carla: Can I also join? I need to see the king of Redstonia again, and maybe he'll choose me again as his royal scientist.

Stark: You used to be King James' royal scientist?

Carla: Yes, but we'll talk once we're in the lab.

Frieren looks at his brother.

Frieren: Brennen, just stay with Eren and Stein.

Brennen: Yes, big sis'.

Eren: We will take care of him.

Stein: Be safe.

King Alexander, Frieren, Stark, and Carla left out of the room and went to King James' palace. They found James standing next to a flower bush.

King James: Ah, thank you Alexander for bringing the cold mage and your royal scientist...

King James suddenly stopped saying when he saw Carla.

King James: Long time, no see, Carla. It must've been hard that your father died, and you came to his beloved village and gave his legacy to you.

Carla: But I have failed to protect my father's village and I have let him down, and I wanted my position to be back as your royal scientist, Your Majesty!

King James: Someone already replaced you, Carla.

Carla was shocked.

Carla: Then, you just give me a chance! Please! I'm begging you!

King James saw Carla's eyes begin to break down in tears, saying that she wanted to work with him again. Then, King James sighs.

King James: Alright Carla... You can work with me.

Carla's expression turned from sad to happy.

Carla: Thank you, Your Majesty!

King James: Now, onto the main problem that has been troubling my kingdom.

King James places a redstone torch on the grass and the flower bush, and the walls start moving, opening a secret hallway.

King James: Everyone, let's go in shall we?

Everyone went inside the hallway and as they walked the door closed. Then, Stark looks at Carla.

Stark: You were King James' royal scientist?

Carla: Yes, I was his royal scientist. My known invention is the Golden Apple.

Stark: Oh, those kinds of apples that boost your health?

Carla nods, and then Stark looks at King James.

Stark: So, what is this place?

King James: I would welcome you guys to my laboratory.

Carla: Man, I remembered this place.

King Alexander, Frieren, and Stark are amazed by the place is huge, but Carla, on the other hand, feels that she could go back to work there.

King James: Come and follow me.

Everyone followed King James.

King James: As you can see, this is the main hall of the lab. I have tons of scientists working with me, especially my top scientist.

Stark: Who's your top scientist?

King James: Dr. Spröde is my highest-ranking royal scientist. He has been my Royal Scientist for months.

King James goes to a door that is locked by a button that has a passcode lock. He then pressed a series of numbers and made the door open. After the door opened, everyone saw Dr. Spröde experiment on something.

Dr. Spröde: Why hello there, your majesty!

King James: Hello, Dr. Spröde.

King Alexander whispered to Stark.

King Alexander: I didn't even call you doctor even though you're my royal scientist.

Stark replied and also whispered to him.

Stark: Indeed, your majesty.

He then switched to a normal tone.

Stark: So, Dr. Spröde. A pleasure to meet you.

Stark offers a handshake to Dr. Spröde. Then, Dr. Spröde accepts it.

Dr. Spröde: It's a pleasure to meet you as well. I've heard that your name is Stark, am I right?

Stark: Indeed... Now, King James said there is so called a zombie virus, and are you working for a cure?

Dr. Spröde: Why yes, Stark. Now, follow me and I'll lead you to the most dangerous part of the lab.

Carla: Let me guess. The dungeon lab.

Dr. Spröde: You got it right.

Stark: How are you guys not afraid of them snarling at us?

Frieren: They are behind bars.

Dr. Spröde: Yes, but if one of the iron bars is broken, Then we'll panic.

Dr. Spröde leads Carla, King Alexander, King James, Frieren, and Stark to the dungeon part of the lab. Everyone was shocked to see people who were undead connected their souls to the monster spawner and trapped behind bars. Zombies kept snarling at them while Dr. Spröde and Frieren were calm.

Carla: I can't believe you guys aren't scared of anything.

Dr. Spröde then opens a secret door leading to a small chamber that only can fit up to ten people.

Dr. Spröde: This lab is connected to the igloo up top, which is an emergency exit route if anything goes wrong. Oh, I almost forgot! I would welcome you guys to my two experiments: Prince Grayson and the one that infected him, my co-scientist Dr. Evoke.
