Chapter 4

Casey's date with Max was tomorrow night. The boys found it funny that their mom had a date with Max. She made sure they knew it was a date for charity.

It was night time. Casey was video chatting with the boys on her laptop.

"Have fun at the movies." She said.

"We will." Drew said.

"I love you both."

"We love you too." They both said.

"Leave that open guys." Drew Sr. said. "I want to talk to your mom." They got up and left. Drew sat down in front of the camera.

"What do you want Drew?" She said annoyed.

"I just find it funny that you got on me for dating Monica, and you have a date with MJF." "Who's going through a midlife crisis now?"

"It's a date for charity Drew."

"Right." He said not believing her.

"You're such an asshole."

"The truth hurt Casey?" She disconnected.

The next afternoon Casey was getting ready to leave for the arena. Her phone rang.

"Hello?" She said.

"Hey Casey." Kenzie said. "I just wanted to wish you luck tonight."

"With what?"

"Your date."

"Kenzie, it's a charity date, one date, that's it."

"Come on Casey, he's obviously crazy about you." "He spent ten thousand dollars for a date with you." "You're not even a little bit flattered?"

"Maybe a little but that doesn't mean I'm interested."

"You're not even attracted to him a little?"

"I gotta go."

"Alright." They hung up.

Max was at the arena. Anyone who saw him could tell he was on cloud nine. He saw his best friend Austin.

"Hey man." Max said happily.

"Hey."

"Everything has to go perfect tonight." "I'm actually nervous." "I haven't been nervous about a date since high school."

"I kind of know Casey." "Not very well but she and Britt are friends."

"If I can get her to go out with me again, we should eventually double "

"That would be fun."

Max was in the production area waiting to go out.

"Hi Casey." He said smiling.

"Hi." "You seem happy tonight."

"I have a date with a beautiful woman later." She hit his music. "Thank you beautiful."

Casey went back to the hotel to change. She and Max had agreed to meet in the lobby. Casey put on a light pink dress. She spritzed herself with perfume and left.

When she got downstairs Max was waiting for her. He was in a light blue dress shirt and black pants.

"Hi." She said.

"Hi." "That's a beautiful dress."

"Thank you."

"Ready?"

"Yeah."

They were at the restaurant eating and talking.

"Where are you from?" He asked.

"I'm a born and raised New Yorker." "I live in New York City."

"I'm from Long Island."

"I wouldn't have guessed that."

"You said you were thirty-five?"

"Yes."

"I would've guessed twenty-five ."

"Yeah right."

"No really."

"Well if my age surprised you, this will really blow your mind." "I have two children."

"You do?" He said surprised.

"Yes I do."

"How old?"

"Fifteen year old twins, they're boys."

"You're not old enough to have fifteen year olds."

"I got pregnant in college when I was nineteen and had them I turned twenty."

"What are their names?"

"Drew Jr. and Daniel." "I miss them."

"Where are they?"

"In Vegas spending the summer with their father."

"Do you have any pictures of them?" She showed Max her screensaver of her and the boys. "Handsome boys."

"Thank you." "They're my world and a big part of the reason why I don't date." "They think it's hilarious I'm on a date with you tonight."

They were back at the hotel in the elevator.

"Can I walk you back to your room?" He asked.

"Yes."

They were standing outside of her room.

"I want to see you again." Max said

"Really?" She said surprised. "Even knowing I have two teenagers?"

"Yes."

"I already told you Max, this is our one and only date."

"Because I'm twenty-eight?"

"Not just that." "You want to screw me." "I'm not looking for a fuck buddy."

"That's not all I want Casey." "I really like you." "Even more after tonight."

"Sorry, no." "I did have fun but you're too young for me." "It would never work." "You are very sweet though." She kissed him on the cheek. "For a kid." "We can be friends." "Goodnight." She went inside.

Max was disappointed but being Casey's friend was better than nothing.
