Farewell
“Y-you… You’re Kang Taehyun?”
I saw him fall off the ground and he started crying. “I-I thought you’re dead,” he sobs loud. “I thought I’m not going to see you again! T-that’s why I never feel uneasy around you because it’s still you. Argh really!” he cries.
He gave me his stares and he smiles at me. “Welcome back, Taehyun,” he suddenly greeted me in tears. I walk closer to him and hug him.
“I’m sorry, hyung… I just remembered everything recently,” I apologized at him and hug him even tighter. “Did you wait for me?”
He nods and hold my face, “I waited for you every second of the day… That’s why when I saw you that night… My heart exploded,” he chuckles.
I smiles, “I’m sorry… for being late,” I apologized.
“Tell me— tell me what really happened, Taehyun. You died, right? I saw it with my own two eyes. That’s why I can’t believe that an exact you is alive,” he said.
“I’ll explain it to you hyung but right now you have other things to do,” I replied and behind him I saw someone I really know. I felt tension and sense of rush when our eyes meet.
“W-what happened Taehyun? Huh? W-why—”
I cut him off by pulling away from the hug, “Hyung, that doesn’t matter for now. Go and talk to grandma, faster.”
He looks at me with his confused eyes. “W-why?”
“Please just go, right now. She needs you,” I replied while slowly pushing him away. “Go now!”
Although confused, Beomgyu hyung run as fast as he could towards the hospital and I finally breathe. “Aren’t you too fast?” I asked Yeonjun.
“I am five years late,” Yeonjun speaks and I meet his cold stares. “Why did you tell him that he’s grandma’s going to die tonight?” he asks.
“He needs to,” I simply replied and exhale. “He should at least.”
“You just gave him reason to suspect you,” Yeonjun replied. “You should have let things be… You shouldn’t revealed who you are yet,” he added.
“It’s been said and done, I can’t do anything about it anymore,” I said. “Was she your lost soul?”
“If Beomgyu didn’t wish five years ago about his grandma, things would have gone smoother for you and for him,” he stated. “But people are just selfish; wanted to decided things for their own.”
“He just love halmeoni more than anything—”
“That’s why he let you die?” he cut me off that made me frown because he completely knows that I requested myself to be the last condition. “He told me one time that he wanted to use his last wish to undo everything so he can save you and grandma but I stopped him from doing it. Why? Because I know you’re going to be the one who’ll reset everything,” he stated.
I look away from him. “I don’t have the time to regret things now. I need to do my own things… You know I still have a lot to do,” I said.
“That’s why you’re going to leave him again?”
“If I need to then I will,” I answered and lift my chin to sight the hospital building. “Then I’ll just meet him in the time where it’s suitable for me and him.”
“Undoing everything…” Yeonjun mentioned and I heard him exhale. “How exactly are you going to do that?”
“Simple,” I said and shifts my eyes on him. “Jaechan.”
He scoffs, “When Jaechan said you’re a scary one for being a calculative, I kinda agrees with him… I’m still bothered why you declined Deity’s offer for you. What a waste.”
After our conversation, I went inside the ER ward where grandma is and from the hallway, I can already hear Beomgyu hyung’s loud screams. It’s painful to my eyes but I can’t do anything. Yeonjun’s walking beside me and of course others can’t see him.
“This sight should have happened years ago already,” I heard him muttered while we both look at Beomgyu getting dragged by the nurses while the doctor is reviving halmeoni.
I walk towards him and hold him as well, “Hyung, come here,” I whispered to him.
He calms a bit and looking at me. “Taehyun! Taehyun,” he cried my name. “W-what will happen to grandma? C-can you save him? Please,” he clasp his hands with mine in between. “P-please?”
“Hyung, halmeoni should rest already…”
“No! N-no! S-she can’t. She can’t leave me like this,” he whines as he sobs while I’m trying my best not to cry and just be strong in front of him.
“Beomgyu hyung, I’m sorry,” that’s the only thing I said.
“N-no… Maybe I can still wish. Maybe I can still let my grandma live, right? Help me. I’m begging you, Taehyun. Help me again,” he cried and completely slumps on the floor while holding my hand.
I’m sorry hyung… I’m not the angel you once knew anymore. I’m just a human right now and I don’t have any power to grant your wishes.
The next thing we heard is a flatline, then Beomgyu hyung rushed towards the bed, the physician’s about to call the time of death but Beomgyu grabs his collar.
“Stop! Don’t you dare! She’s still alive! Halmeoni! Do your fucking job and save her!”
I just stood there as I witnessed how Yeonjun placed his hand on halmeoni’s chest and after few seconds I see halmeoni’s soul standing beside him. Our eyes met and she smiles at me, tears streaming down on her face.
“Let’s get going,” Yeonjun said and started walking ahead.
But grandma’s eyes are still lock on me, “Take care of my Beomgyu, okay?” she mouthed.
And I didn’t even realize my tears already escaped from my eyes. I nods at her and she started walking behind Yeonjun. I brush my tears and picked up Beomgyu hyung from the floor.
“Hyung…”
“Halmeoni! Halmeoni!” he calls her while holding tightly her hands. The hospital staffs already walk away and give us space.
Beomgyu hyung continue to cries while holding his dearest grandma’s hand that is now deceased.
“You know this is going to happened, right?” I heard him asks in a low voice.
“I’m sorry, hyung…” I apologized.
He scoffs, “W-why? Why is it always you, Taehyun?”
“W-what do you mean?”
He glared at me. “Why are you always there whenever it is about my grandma’s life? Tell me, does officially loving you is the exchange of my grandma’s death?”
“W-what? Of course not. Everything was already—”
“Go… I don’t want to see your face. It disgusts me so bad.”
