Chapter 61: Five Years Ago III

(Chapter 28 “Third Wish”, Book 1: Winter)

“Is that your third wish?”

I briefly shake my head, “It’s a request,” I replied. “Please,” I added a plead.

“You’re going to hurt Beomgyu, then? Will it be okay to you?” he asked me again and slowly turns his back to face me.

“I will but…” I paused to inhale. “This is my only chance.”

I was inside my classroom taking night advanced class when I suddenly felt strong aches on my chest. I held it and tried to breathe normally but it feels like my blood stops circulating. Jaechan noticed I’m struggling so he quickly took me in the clinic and the nurse gave me oxygen to breathe.

“What are your plans?” Jaechan asks me.

I exhaled first and close my eyes. I’m now feeling better. “I’m going to let go of him…”

“Without telling Beomgyu the truth about his accident?” Jaechan asks.

I open my eyes, “Does he really needs to know?” I replied.

“That’s up to you… But can you really accept things now?”

“I just want to have a better start, Jaechan,” I stated. I suddenly frown when Yeonjun suddenly appeared inside the room. “Why are you here? Am I going to die?” I asked him.

“Choi Beomgyu broke his second condition,” he reported.

Jaechan immediately turn his eyes on me. “What are you planning?”

“How about grandma?” I asked Yeonjun instead.

“She’s probably going to be Beomgyu’s third wish,” he sighs. “The old lady will surely live for more years than she should be,” he stated.

“I’ll be back,” I replied and disappeared in front of them.

I found myself at the hospital. I walk on the hallway that is silent since this isn’t near the emergency room plus it’s already in the middle of the night.

I stops and stares through the window. My eyes shake and felt a tear as I saw this woman holding someone’s hand so dearly. I can feel my heart being squeezed. I want to protest but this is the best that I can do.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered an apology and walk away from the door when I saw a nurse coming towards the room.

“Excuse me?” I heard her call me. “Are you a family of the patient?” she asks.

I slowly turned around and I saw her eyes widened. “Oh? Why—” she pauses and look inside the room but before she can look back at me I quickly disappear and hide in the corner. “Is he going to die? I’m seeing his ghost already…” I heard her remarked.

Even after how Beomgyu hyung cusses the Deity and almost gave up, he was able to cast his third wish and that is to save halmeoni from death and to be happy. The brown envelop appeared and I saw how his hands shakes while he’s slowly opening it.

I already know what’s inside. I already know it’s going to be about me disappearing in Beomgyu hyung’s life.

“Jaechan,” I called him while we’re on the sky scraper.

“Hmmm?”

“I’m going to tell you something so listen carefully,” I said.
