Thranduil's POV
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
I felt numb.
I know it should and would hurt, but the pain I felt inside burned much deeper than the singes that decorated my body like scorching tattoos.
I laid in bed on my right side, keeping the bandages that wrapped along my wounds up in the air.
I stared at the wall lifelessly. My room was painted a light minty green but it seemed grey to me. Everything lost it's vibrant beauty in my eyes... Everything was dark.
Ada hated me, and when I say hated, I mean hated. He hadn't said a word to me since the day Nana had died. I didn't know what he was going to say or if he'd say anything at all.
The nurses have tried getting me to talk but I never said much with their attempts. What was I supposed to say? I killed my mother? My father despised me like a stray dog to a flea ridden cat?
It had been a week since the dragon attacked. The vile creature had flown east of Mirkwood towards Erebor and the Iron Hills. I wondered if the residents of Dale were alright. I hoped they were.
At that moment, I heard someone open my door.
"Lord Thranduil?" A maiden cooed in a silky voice (something I hadn't heard in a while).
I didn't say anything but simply say up, gazing at her with the uncovered blue eye.
"King Oropher asks for your presence in his living quarter." She nearly whispered. She knew how my father was behaving and the look she gave me was pure pity.
I didn't need her pity, though it was nice to have someone at least partially care. I had enough to handle. I stood up, nodded my thanks, and trudged to my Ada's room. Pain shot through my body with every step I took. I winced ever so slightly and clenched my teeth behind the curtains of my lips.
It took a minute or so of walking in the palace to finally arrive at my father's room. I knocked on the door with my good hand. It wasn't long until I saw my father rip the door open with an unbelievable amount of force. His look was cold, his eyes like icicles stabbing into me. His platinum blonde hair wasn't it's natural smooth and glossy look but rather a bit tangled and pale. He looked like an angry wreck, and I can assure you, he was one.
He grabbed me by my unscathed shoulder and jerked me inside. He slammed the door behind him.
I was honestly terrified. I had never seen Ada so upset before and I never thought he would be so irrational.
"What happened?" He asked trough gritted teeth.
I didn't say anything for a moment for I was just trying to process what he really asked. I didn't know what he expected me to answer with. The question was just so... Blunt.
"Answer me!" He yelled as he got dangerously close to my face.
"We were riding... A-And Nana's horse bucked her off so I got off of m-mine and they ran off. I helped her up and then the d-dragon came..." I stammered, my eyes not even meeting his. I was such a coward, I couldn't even face my father.
