Finally it came the day to prove Luke's inheritance, Alyssa didn't know why she was so worried. It wasn't even her inheritance but she knew that her and Jace would be affected too depending on the outcome. She worried about Otto, about Alicent, and what maccinations Larys was getting up to. She barely remembered him from her childhood but she knew he was close with Alicent and that alone was a warning sign for her.
As they filed into the throne room, the tension was high. She knew her mother had spoken with Rhaenys in order to gain her favour and secure Jace and Luke's betrothals. That just left her and Joffrey, there had been no word so far of who she was to marry and she liked it that way. When the time came she would perform her duty but she was satisfied with waiting as long as she could. Staying with her family was her priority and if marriage threatened that then she was not interested.
She took note of Alicent and her children, all in green with Helaena in gold. Meanwhile Alyssa and Rhaenyra were wearing black gowns. Factions were forming before them and the day's verdict would cement them into history.
Some time later
[Daemon slices through Vaemond's neck]
Alyssa's jaw dropped open, she had always admired Daemon for his ruthless protection of his family and ambitious spirit, but this was a whole new level of admiration. She watched the Hightower's reactions; Aegon's smirk, Helaena's shock and Aemond's satisfaction. Maybe the Hightower boys were more similar to Daemon than she thought. Alyssa watched as Vaemond's head rolled across the floor. She locked eye contact with Aegon who was grinning at her and she smiled back. Not at him though, she was smiling because Luke's claim was reinforced. Her family was safe thus far and it did not matter the collateral damage. The throne room was cleared at once as her grandfather began coughing and stumbling. Alyssa noted her mother and Alicent going after him and used that as an opportunity to catch up with Aegon.
"What is so amusing about beheadings, Aegon?" She said finally standing by his side.
Aegon lowered himself to her level, "I do think I saw you smiling as well, dear niece. Now why is that I wonder?"
Alyssa was flustered, "I was only celebrating Luke's position, th- that is all" she stuttered noting her own hypocrisy. She had kept up her act well enough so far at the Keep of behaving and acting like a princess, and she was not going to let that act fade.
"You and I, we have more in common than you let on" Aegon stated leading her towards the door.
Alyssa laughed, "We do not have anything in common. And what are these stories of misadventures you speak of hearing about me?" She looked up at him questioningly, she had not noticed how deep his gaze was before. His eyes were more grey than purple and seemed to read her deepest darkest secrets. Honestly she was scared of what he would say, he seemed to always know more than he let on and his drunken appearance could sometimes be a facade.
Aegon grinned looking down at her, "You truly want to know then?"
"I do, more than anything" she replied sarcastically, putting her hands on her waist.
"Well mainly I hear stories of you visiting places unbecoming of a princess on Dragonstone, I hear you have even visited a few here since your recent arrival to King's Landing. And then of course there are the stories about Eddard Royce and Alaric Daryn. You are starting to remind me of dear Aunt Saera. I am quite impressed" Aegon grinned, knowing that would get to her.
"So you have been keeping up with me all these years I have been away? I can't say the same, I forgot about you the moment I left, Aegon." She rebutted without flinching.
"Ouch I am hurt, but you do not deny these rumours then? Stories like these would surely tarnish your perfect reputation."
Alyssa scoffed, "Those boys are my friends, and besides you essentially live in brothels so who are you to judge?"
