He surfed over a huge wave, about thirty feet if his math was right.
"Scarvern! That wave was huge!" his sister, Scarlyn, laughed.
"I know! I think that was about thirty feet," he laughed back as he ran his hands through the deep blue ocean water.
"I've always wondered about all these animals in Valdein," Scarlyn pondered. "Like those dolphins?" Scarvern had always had a passion for dolphins since he was little, Scarlyn thought they were wee little sea creatures like sharks. But friendlier and less intimidating.
"Yeah?"
"Everytime we surf the dolphins follow you around like you're a pod of fish or something," A dolphin swam up to Scarvern's hand and nudged it.
"Exactly that," she grumbled. "They love you,"
"They follow you too!" he tried, four dolphins were surrounding them and kept nudging their feet in the water. Each of them flipping up and down into the water.
"That's the one that was here yesterday," he noticed the distinguishable wave mark on this dolphin. "Lehar,"
He nudged Scarvern's leg, as if he were saying, "Come swim with us!"
"You wanna have some fun?" he smirked up at his twin sister.
'With who?'
"The Dolphins!"
"Are you crazy?"
"No,"
"They'll lead us to the deepest part of the ocean and we'll drown!"
"Aw, come on, Lee! They'll keep us safe,"
Scarlyn gave him a death stare. "Fine. Only because I've always wondered what the deeper part of our ocean looked like,"
"See? Sometimes you gotta get out of your comfort zone and be an adrenaline junky!" he teased as he slipped off of his surfing board and followed Lehar. Scarlyn quickly followed behind.
As they went deeper, more dolphins started surrounding them. Scarvern thought it was awesome. He swam up for air.
"How did you like that?" he asked her as she swam up for air too. He held in his laugh at her calm, but fear laced expression.
"Kind of nerve racking, but somewhat fun,"
"Aha! There she is," he snickered as he went down again, almost nailing his face on one of the fish swimming near.
The dolphins led them to a dark place in the ocean and stopped in place.
He swallowed. This is what Scarlyn had feared. He signaled her to stay close.
He began swimming to the top of the ocean. It was pitch black.
Scarlyn was swimming perfusoley in the waves, battling them with every stroke. She was muttering something, though he couldn't make out what she was saying.
"Scarlyn?" he yelled to her, and he could finally make out what she was saying.
"This isn't happening," she was staring into the distance. "This can't be happening."
"What can't be happening?" he asked, accidentally scaring her.
"Nothing," she lied. "Just thinking a bit too much out loud. Oh and I'm cold."
He knew his sister too well to know she wouldn't just think out loud. "Liar," he teased before the light on the coral grew bigger. He decided not to swim back down to it for a few minutes, for the sake of his and his sister's sanity.
