"The thrilling delight of hazarding your all. I am referring not to the lure of London's luxurious gaming halls but to a gamble with far higher stakes. Matrimony. For once that particular wager is placed, it cannot easily be undone.
"A fact which, I am sure, is met with both regret and sheer relief."
Delilah was finally planning her wedding. After the season, she and Anthony alongside close friends and family would retire back to Aubrey Hall and wed. Anthony asked if she wanted to go to the Silvester ancestral manor, but Mary had sold it years prior.
Her father never left town unless it was to go to the Bridgerton's, and during the summer Mary took Delilah and went off to Clyvdon to see Simon. There was no use for it after James died either.
"Planning?" Came Anthony's voice, "I was beginning to wonder whether we would actually have a wedding or not."
Delilah laughed as Anthony came beside her in the Silvester dining room. He leaned over Delilah's chair to look at her notes.
She would have white roses in her bouquet with lilacs complimenting the color scheme of Bridgerton blue, Silvester silver, and light yellow for a pop of color. Anthony smiled down at her notes before seeing her writing in the corner: Must wait for marriage license.
He laughed slightly at it and took a quill crossing it out.
"Darling-"
A paper envelope was placed in front of her. When she looked at it. She nearly sobbed in joy and excitement. Their marriage license had arrived. It was official, they could plan and get married. She would become the viscountess.
She looked up at Anthony with the widest smile he had ever seen, and she had the honor of receiving his widest smile. Both of them could see it. It was light at the end of the tunnel. Delilah Silvester and Anthony Bridgerton were getting married.
Alongside Delilah's preparation. Williamson was preparing. It seemed that his wedding would take place a few weeks before Anthony and Delilah's. Currently, he was in the Silvester drawing room with Delilah as a tailor was taking measurements for his wedding ensemble.
He looked at himself in the mirror and made slight adjustments. He wanted it to be perfect. His siblings would be arriving before the wedding, and he wanted to be ready for their appearances.
"It is not yet right," He said, "See how the buffs are an inch too short?"
"There is plenty of time to adjust it to your liking. The wedding is not for another month." Delilah said.
William sighed, "There is still much to do."
Delilah smiled as he took a seat next to her in a chair, "Will Miss Edwina live with you?"
"Indeed," Williamson sighed, "After the wedding, she shall be Lady of the house and responsible for my siblings."
"Lord help her," Delilah laughed, "Oh, that reminds me, your carriages must be polished to a shine. Your horse's manes braided and I shall bring out the finest silver for you."
Williamson looked at her, "Mine?"
Delilah smiled down at her hands, "My wedding present to you, is this house. I will be marrying Anthony and moving in with the Bridgertons. I thought you could use a home for when Felicity and Thomas makes their debut next season. After all you have told me since you have been here, you will need a place. I have no use for this manor anymore, it shall be yours."
Williamson's jaw dropped. But he laughed and stood. He walked over and hugged Delilah. She let out a shriek of laughter.
"You are a dear sister to me, along with the siblings I already have. Thank you." Williamson smiled.
"Of course. And, I figured that even though the queen is hosting at the palace, you might want to be ready to entertain in a private residence."
Williamson smiled at her, "You aren't wrong."
"And what about all us Bridgerton's, should we be all polished and ready for your big day?" Anthony's voice flooded the room. Delilah turned around quickly and smiled at him.
Williamson shook his head, "Perhaps you might scrub your hands."
"I've been occupied." Anthony frowned.
"What about Miss Edwina's sister?" Delilah asked.
Williamson looked back at Delilah, "What about her?"
Delilah tilted her head, her eyes splaying curiosity, "Will she come to live with you as well?"
"Delilah-"
"Oh, I just remembered. The dinner with Lady Danbury to welcome the Sharmas into the family. Then the engagement ball will be next week. And, our own wedding preparations, Anthony. Two weddings is a challenge, you know. Soon we will have to start on our pieces and floral arrangements. Our guest list too..."
Both men sighed and looked at each other. Delilah could ramble on about hosting forever. If there was one thing she liked to do besides playing big sister, fiancee, gliding feather on the dance floor, and being a gossip - it was hosting.
Anthony gave Williamson an apologetic glance before steering Delilah out of the room and acting as if he cared. But, he didn't. He just wanted her to be happy. And her smile was beautiful, so he listened anyway.
