"That would be stupid kicking a first place girl off the team. I mean it'd make you look like a bigger jackass than you already are" I replied

"Here's a warning. You don't wanna fuck with me, Matthews" he says

"Your warnings don't mean a damn thing. She's staying with me and that's final." I replied then walked off

After getting the number one spot on the team me and Maggie hit the ground running. We trained harder and we worked harder. This was her number one goal to make her mom proud and she told me she'd do anything to make sure she brings home that gold.

It took plenty of long overdue hours that Maggie begged to have. And that her mom was fine with it after Maggie pleaded with her to let her do it. She swore her studies wouldn't be affected, and that this was one last step from her biggest goal.

When it came time for us to leave for Toronto Maggie's mom got the time off to be able to go. Which was what Maggie had hoped form

"Alright, when we arrive there will be so many flashing lights, journalists asking questions, and a whole lot of other things. So glasses will be needed to protect your eyes from the blinding lights. " I warned.

"I am nervous," Maggie said

"I know, I was in your shoes and I was beyond freaked out, I thought I'd crap my pants before I arrived. But luckily I had my mom there as my support and my cheerleader telling me that everything's gonna be just fine. That the nervousness is perfectly normal and it helps prepare you more for what's to come. And that this is the final step to reaching your goal" I tell her

"She was a smart lady," Mrs. Townsend says

I smiled in thanks.

"Now when we get there and you feel bombarded or like a panic attack is coming on tell me or your mom and we will get you out straight away," I say to Maggie

She nodded her head before laying it on her mom's shoulder who gave her some encouraging words of her very own.
