At 11:30a.m., Jake and Liz made it to their lunch table before Evey and Benito did. Evey and Benito grabbed their lunch trays and went to their lunch table.
Liz: Okay, spill, what was the news that you wanted to tell us.
Evey: I'll be in the Travel Club, Triathlon Club, Outdoor Club, Cooking Club, Drama Club, Volleyball, Soccer, Cheerleading, and Swimming.
Jake: Oh, well, lucky for us, we'll be doing some of those things together.
All of them gave each other a high-five and Evey and Liz gave each other a booty bump. Evey's phone vibrated and she saw a text from Luis. The text said: I'll pick you guys up from school. We need to talk and your mom is gonna be there, too.
Evey: Okay, Luis is pickin' us up right after school, and I think I'm in big trouble.
Benito: Why?
Evey: He probably found out about how many clubs I picked.
Benito: Well, it is a lot of clubs.
The others agreed with him.
Evey: I'll be fine, you guys. It's not like I'm goin' on a world tour like Benito here. So, what clubs did you guys join?
Benito: I joined Cooking, Drama, and Outdoor club.
Jake & Liz (in unison): Same here.
Evey: We're gonna have so much fun together.
Liz: I can't wait to go campin'.
Jake: Or to cook somethin'. Those cupcakes that Evey made for my birthday was the bomb.
Benito: I'm just worried that you're takin' on too much, Evey.
Evey: I can handle it, Benito. Don't worry about me.
Jake: Evey, you just came out of almost four years of depression, we're gonna keep worryin' about you no matter what. That's what friends are for.
Evey half-smiled and took a sip of her Pepsi through a pink bendy straw. They went back to talking about their clubs and sports that they joined.
