The others stared in shock as Darius and I glared at him coldly. Was he back just to betray us again?
"You guys have every right to be mad at me," Kenji said.
"You think?" Yaz questioned harshly.
"Thanks for the permission," Brooklynn said with a glare.
Kenji then looked down at the ground again, as if he was a child being scolded.
"Trust me, I get it. He messed up," Ben said.
"Oh, is that what we're calling it?" Yaz asked, voice laced with sarcasm.
"He betrayed us. He disappointed us. He practically left us for dead," Ben started. Kenji gave him a 'really' look. "But he knows it was a mistake. He helped save Bumby, and, in my eyes, that's enough for a second chance. Plus, considering what and who we are up against, we're gonna need all the help we can get."
Darius sighed before walking off. I followed. I didn't need to hear the rest of Kenji's sob story.
"We should head back to Mae's cave soon. We need to make those Molotov cocktails," I explained to Darius.
"Yeah, good idea," Darius said. "We'll need anything we can get."
I turned around when I heard footsteps. Of course it had to be Kenji walking over.
"Chris? Darius?" Kenji questioned.
"We get it, you're sorry," Darius said, almost monotone.
"Listen, if you guys aren't ready to forgive me-"
I turned around and punched Kenji in the face. He staggered back before falling. Blood started running from his nose.
"What was that?" Kenji asked.
"It's called a punch, bitch," I said, angrily. "And after what you did, don't expect us to forgive you any time soon."
Kenji huffed as he stood up, wiping the blood off. I hissed at him before walking over to Darius.
"He kind of deserved that," Darius mumbled to me.
"Duh," I mumbled back.
We then walked over to the airlock. Kenji followed. Why?
"I know Chris isn't ready to forgive me," Kenji said, eyeing me. "But what about you D?"
"People make mistakes," Darius said, monotone.
"So we cool then?" Kenji asked.
"Yep, just kinda busy," Darius replied. He then slammed a rock against the lock pad, breaking it. He then walked out as the airlock closed behind him. He then turned to glare at Kenji. "If your dad gets through here, it's war."
I had to bite my tongue to keep myself from smiling.
I followed Darius back to the others. "Ok, I say we head back to Mae's cave," I said. "We need to make those Molotov cocktails."
Everyone nodded and we ran back to the cave. Once we got there, I set the bin of bottles on the table.
"Ok, this is pretty simple. All you gotta do is mix the gas and the oil in the bottles, dip a paper towel in the gas, and stick the paper towel in the opening of the bottle," I explained.
I then demonstrated. I held up the cocktail. "Everyone got that?"
They all nodded.
"Ok, we need to work fast," I said. "Kon could be here any minute."
They all nodded again and got to work. I believe we managed to make around thirty before we heard a loud bang.
"It's now or never guys," Darius said.
