Author's POV:-

The faint glow from the solitary candle flickered, casting long shadows on the ancient, dusty bookshelves lining the walls.
"even if I tell you the whole story I know you don't remember anything, May," Ian began, his voice soft but urgent. "It's because of the spell I cast a long time ago. I never meant for it to go this far."
May's brow furrowed in confusion. She had been trying to piece together the fragments of her past, but every time she reached for a memory, it slipped through her fingers like sand. She opened her mouth to speak, but Ian cut her off gently.
"Now come, and trust me. Come closer and touch the mirror," he said, gesturing to an ornate, gilded mirror on the wall.
She reached out, her fingers trembling, and lightly touched the cool, glassy surface of the mirror.
"Now, repeat after me," Ian instructed, his eyes never leaving hers. "Memento verum. Redde mihi veritatem."
"Memento verum. Redde mihi veritatem," May echoed, her voice barely a whisper.
The mirror's surface began to ripple like water disturbed by a stone. May's reflection wavered, and she felt a strange pull, as if something deep within her was awakening. She gazed into the mirror, and suddenly, her past came flooding back in vivid detail.
She found herself standing in a sunny clearing on the edge of a dense forest. The air was filled with the sounds of birdsong and the distant laughter of children.

In the clearing, a younger May and Ian sat cross-legged on the grass, their faces alight with curiosity and wonder. Before them stood May's mother, a wise and kind woman with an air of gentle authority. She held an ancient, leather-bound book in her hands, its pages filled with the secrets of witchcraft.
"Today, we'll learn about the healing properties of herbs," May's mother said, her voice melodic and soothing. She pointed to a cluster of wildflowers nearby. "These are yarrow flowers. They can be used to stop bleeding and promote healing."
