"Can we hang out? Just the two of us?" Enid asked, her face full of hopeful anticipation.

Wednesday stared at her for a moment, as if weighing the question.

"Sure," she replied finally.

Enid's eyes widened in excitement. "Really?"

"Yes," Wednesday said, a hint of a smile tugging at her lips. "And besides, you owe me one."

Enid's excitement was palpable. "Yes! meet me tomorrow at Weathervane after my shift."

"Sure," Wednesday agreed, her voice calm but her eyes showing a flicker of anticipation.

Just then, Xander arrived with a tray loaded with food and drinks.

"I bought some food. I thought you guys might be hungry," he said, setting the tray down on the towel they had spread out.

They settled down, each taking a plate and selecting their favorites from the assortment of sandwiches, fruit, and pastries.

As they ate, the conversation flowed easily. Xander shared stories from their childhood, making Enid laugh and even drawing a rare smile from Wednesday. The sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the beach.

"So, what's this place you're taking Wednesday to?" Xander asked between bites of his sandwich, a mischievous twinkle in his eye.

Enid grinned, her excitement returning. "It's a surprise, but I promise it's going to be awesome."

Wednesday raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. "Should I be worried?"

Enid laughed. "Nope, just be ready"

After they finished their meal, Xander stretched out on the blanket, looking content. "This was nice."

"Agreed," Enid said, leaning back and enjoying the moment.

Wednesday, who had been quietly observing, nodded in agreement. "Yes, it was... enjoyable."

As the night grew darker, they packed up their things and headed back to the car. The drive back was filled with lighthearted chatter and laughter, a stark contrast to the usually somber atmosphere that surrounded Wednesday.

When they finally arrived at Enid's house, Xander and Enid thanked Wednesday for the day out and said their goodbyes. As Enid closed the car door, she leaned in through the window.

"Don't forget, tomorrow at Weathervane after my shift."

"I won't forget," Wednesday assured her.

Enid waved as Wednesday drove away, a smile lingering on her lips.

Soon morning came, and Enid, as usual, was busy serving customers at the Weathervane. Enid was in the middle of wiping down a recently vacated table when she heard a familiar voice behind her.

"So," Yoko said, sidling up with a teasing smile on her lips. "Did you have fun yesterday?"

Enid glanced over her shoulder, a hint of a smile playing at her own lips. "You could say that."

Yoko raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. "Oh, do tell. What happened?"

Enid chuckled, placing the damp cloth on the edge of the table and straightening up.

"Well, we ended up at the beach."

Yoko's eyes widened in disbelief. "And you didn't tell me?" she exclaimed, crossing her arms in a mock offense.

Enid laughed, shaking her head. "I was just in the moment, and it didn't cross my mind to text you," she admitted, her cheeks flushing slightly. "It was an unexpected trip"
