"Do you mind if I take you on a little trip?" Wednesday asked, her dark eyes steady on Enid.
Enid hesitated, caught off guard by the offer.
"A trip? Where to?"
"It's a surprise," Wednesday replied, a hint of a smirk playing on her lips. "But I think you could use a change of scenery."
Enid looked at Wednesday, searching her face for any clues. There was something reassuring in her steady gaze, something that made Enid feel a little less anxious. She nodded slowly.
"Okay, sure. I could use a little trip, I guess."
Wednesday nodded in return and gestured towards the car.
"Good. Get in."
Enid climbed into the car, curiosity and a mix of nervousness and excitement bubbling up inside her. As she buckled her seatbelt, she glanced over on Wednesday, who was already starting the engine. The car hummed to life, and they pulled away from the curb.
For a while, they drove in silence, the city lights casting a warm glow on the streets as they passed by. Enid found the quiet drive oddly soothing, a welcome break from the noise in her mind.
After a while, Enid couldn’t contain her curiosity any longer.
"So, where exactly are we going?" she asked, glancing at Wednesday.
Wednesday kept her eyes on the road, her expression unreadable.
"You’ll see soon enough. Trust me."
Enid nodded, deciding to let herself be surprised. She leaned back in her seat, watching the cityscape transform into quieter, more secluded streets.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Wednesday turned onto a narrow, tree-lined road that seemed to lead away from the city.
The car's headlights cut through the darkness, illuminating the path ahead. Enid felt a flutter of excitement mixed with apprehension.
Wednesday parked the car near a secluded clearing, the headlights illuminating a small path leading into the woods. She turned off the engine and looked at Enid.
"Come on," she said, opening her door.
Enid followed Wednesday, stepping out into the cool night air. The forest was quiet, the only sounds being the rustling of leaves and the distant call of night birds.
Enid felt a sense of calm wash over her as they walked down the path, Wednesday leading the way with confident steps.
After a short walk, they arrived at a small, serene lake. The water was still, reflecting the moonlight and stars like a mirror. A soft breeze rippled the surface, creating a peaceful, almost magical atmosphere. Enid looked around in awe, feeling the weight of her worries lift slightly in the presence of such natural beauty.
"This place is amazing," Enid said softly, turning to Wednesday. "How did you find it?"
Wednesday shrugged, her expression softening slightly.
"I come here sometimes to think. I thought you might like it."
Enid smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her chest.
"Thank you for bringing me here. I really needed this. And also for the medicine"
"No problem just thought you might need it" Wednesday replied.
They sat by the lake, the quiet companionship bringing a sense of peace that Enid hadn’t felt in days.
"So," Enid began, trying to keep her voice steady. "Are you and Tyler together?"
