Wednesday was eating her food when she heard her phone buzz. She sighed as she slipped the phone out of her pocket. It was a message from Ajax.
'Hey'
She shook her head and ignored the message, putting her phone on silent. She didn't want any disturbances right now. Morticia, who was eating across from her, noticed her daughter's bothered expression.
"Who was that? You seem bothered by it," Morticia asked.
"Just no one," Wednesday replied coldly and proceeded to eat.
"Are you sure?" Morticia said, her tone gentle yet probing.
Wednesday just nodded in response. After their meal, Wednesday went to her room. As she entered, she walked over to her typewriter, ready to write something. The sound of the keys filled the room, a comforting rhythm that allowed her to momentarily escape her thoughts.
Suddenly, she heard a knock on her door.
She sighed. "Yes?"
"There is someone who wants to talk with you at the front door," Morticia called out from outside.
"Who?" Wednesday asked, her voice tinged with irritation.
"It's Ajax."
She sighed in frustration. "I'm coming," she said as she walked out of her room. She opened her door and saw Ajax waiting. Ajax glanced at her with a nervous smile.
"What do you want?" Wednesday asked, trying to contain her anger.
"You didn't reply to my messages, so I had to come here," Ajax replied.
Wednesday closed the door behind her. "How did you even find my house?"
"Tyler gave me your address. He was hard to convince, not gonna lie," he said.
Wednesday rolled her eyes. "Why did you come here?"
"I came here to tell you something," he said, his voice earnest.
"What is it?" she asked, her patience wearing thin.
"Jesse and I hung out for some time."
Wednesday raised her brow. "You know her?"
"We were friends before when I was in Germany," he said. "I assumed she never told you this."
"She didn't," Wednesday said, her tone was cold.
He sighed. "I want to clear things up between you and Enid. You haven't noticed this, but she has been suffering while you've been gone. She truly loves you, Wednesday, and I apologize for what I did."
Wednesday's jaw tightened. "Go on."
"Jesse has really helped me throughout this time, and she wanted me to apologize to you," he said, his voice softening. "You have to come back to her, Wednesday."
"Are you both...?" Wednesday began, but Ajax interrupted her.
Ajax smiled. "Yes," he said. "Go back to her, Wednesday. You deserve her more than I did."
There was a moment of silence as Wednesday processed his words. Ajax's sincerity was evident, and it was clear he genuinely wanted to make amends.
"You hurt her too, Ajax," Wednesday said, her voice steady but sharp. "You can't just expect everything to be okay because you apologize."
"I know," Ajax admitted, his expression somber. "But I also know that Enid loves you, and she's willing to forgive you. Don't let my mistakes ruin what you have with her."
