Chapter 24: Girlfriend?Dyletto.
Perhaps, i had done wrong for hurting her, for getting revenge, for ruining her just like she did me, for taking advantage of her then and later, those were the thoughts that evaded my mind as I stared at her from my seated position.
She had been diagnosed with migraine, a serious one at that, with gastric ulcer, i should have known, Perhaps I did, seeing her last night, I saw the distress. Which was why I had been willing to help her out, albeit her unwillingness.
Yet I found myself unable to regret a thing, she hurt me, I hurt her that was the rule of the game, a rule I was not ready to break yet, I did make it a point to enjoy her misery while it lasted as I had a final plan that would ruin her completely.
A sniff beside me had me turning, I ruffled the little girl's head.
"Will she be alright? " Edna asked.
"Yes, I do not know much, however, a migraine won't kill her,"
"That's not helping, " she smiled, sniffing.
"Your Mom will be alright, she is a strong woman, is that better? "
"Thank you, "
I did not give her a reply as my Dad walked in, his face stoic as usual, I did not say a word, I had nothing to say.
It had been a whole year since we met outside work or business meetings, after what happened years ago, I left home, back to the company I had started when I had been nineteen.
Even I could not believe how fast it had grown, how short the time was to me.
"Dyletto" he stated, his lips pressed in a thin line, reflecting mine.
"Dad, " I greeted, with a light nod of my head.
He did not utter a word in return, did not ask how I had been, how I was doing, he did not care and neither did I, I had gotten so used to his attitude that I did not hurt anymore.
We sat in silence, during which Edna dozed off and I laid her on the couch, into a more proper position, my eyes met my Dad's as he watched me, a light yet noticeable frown on his brows. I had no idea why he waited, perhaps he had the same idea I did, we were waiting for Stacey to wake up.
"Come with me, " my dad demanded, all of a sudden, I had the need to protest, but the serious look he gave me had me sighing shallowly, as I followed after him.
He took me to a private room, one I was not surprised to be in, it was the same room my mom had spent six months, drowning in her own tears.
And pain, where she had almost lost her life, all because of her, that woman who had ruined everything for me.
"Who is she? " he asked, tracing his slender fingers across the empty bed.
I could not find my voice, I was lost in between telling him, what he would do and what he could do, when I kept shut, he sat on a couch.
"I see the way you look at the little girl, with care and love and the lady, guilt. You had guilt in your eyes for her. What did you do? " he inquired.
