Chapter 29: Game.

Stacey.

   "That man hates you!, " Mia exclaimed with a chuckle, I glared at her.

"Thanks for pointing that out, " I drawled.

"Your welcome baby girlie, it's amusing how you can handle this well, I can't imagine that hottie hating me, though it's understandable, I mean you have hurt him a lot, don't you think dating him is wrong? I mean I know he is hot and sexy and everything but-" she raised her brows.

"I know, I know, I just... Um... I, " I sighed, "I don't really know what to say right now, I mean, we are both playing a dangerous game at the moment, I don't understand how he doesn't know that."

Mia nodded, pity evident in her eyes, "do you like him? " Madule asked.

"What?! No! " I grimaced, "he tried to kill Ed, why would I love a man like that, it's only a business deal that is meant to end in six months, "

Madule nodded while Mia hummed, taking a bite of her ice cream, She exchanged a look with Madule and they both bursted out laughing.

I was at my home with Mia and Madule, telling them what had been transpiring between Mr Aman and I, which they found so interesting that they brought out all the ice cream in my refrigerator.

"I like him though, " Mia said.

"MIA! " both Madule and I exclaimed, hitting her feebly on her arm, "what about Isani then, do you want the two friends to kill each other?"

"Over me, that would be lovely, imagine two friends fighting over me, the black queen, oh my gosh, that. Is fire, " Mia gushed, lost in her dream land.

"Okay, that's enough, you guys are not helping right now, "

"Yes we are baby girlie, "

"Okay, "

We spent the day exchanging jokes just like we had done years ago, then they left, claiming they didn't want to interrupt my moment with my 'contract man'.

Soon, Mr Aman arrived with Ed, he had promised her the night before to be the one to pick her from school.

"I am home, " she announced, dropped  down on the couch and placed her bag on the one beside her.

"No! Nope, you are not doing that, you will take your bags inside, take a shower, change your dress and come help me in the kitchen, " i commanded.

"Yes Mom, " she drawled, picking up her bag and heading to her room, Mr Aman chuckled out of nowhere, making me glare at him.

then I headed to the kitchen to make dinner,  Molly had her own life outside work, she had done enough for us all these years so I gave her two months vacation, lucky her, she gets to spend time with her family.

"Hurry up Ed!" I yelled, cutting the vegetables I had prepared earlier.

"Need help? "

"Ahh, " I yelped, almost spilling the water on the fountain.

"Are you alright Mrs Normans? " he asked like had not just startled me to death a while ago.

"You scared me, " I chided.

"I did? " he asked, moving the closer to me, I couldn't say a word, all I did was lean away till my back hit the edge of the counter, he then leaned closer to me, so close that our lips could touch however, instead of kissing me like I thought he would, he pick something behind me and leaned away.

I let out an heavy breath, I had no idea why my breath had been erratic when he was close to me, he had only wanted to pick the knife yet he missed no chance to tease me.

Ed walked in, oblivious to what had happen between us, i humphed while Mr Aman chuckled.

"So, how was today?" I asked Edna, trying to divert attention.

"Nice, I had fun at school today and some drama too but it's nothing I can't handle, besides we can keep that for tonight, "

"Okay, Mia came and she left something for you in your room, I didn't check it though, she says it's you guys secret. "

"cool, " she smiled.

After making dinner, we headed to the dinning room for dinner, we chatted all through dinner, our conversations were mostly about random things we could think of which means, Ed and I did most of the talk while he nodded and spoke when needed.

After dinner, Ed went to bed early, Mr Aman and I we're seated, we didn't speak to each other, I didn't want to speak to him especially after what happened days ago.

"Thank you for bringing her home, I know this wasn't part of the deal, thank you, " I was arranging the plates and he was by the door, Mr Aman nodded.

"You-" he was about to say something when his phone rang, "excuse me, " he said, heading to the living room.

After he left, I let out a deep breath and went back to cleaning the counter.

"do you wanna stay for coffee? " i asked when he returned.

"No, I have to go, good night, " he said, walking back to the living room, I followed him to the door, a little bit disappointed, though I hated that I was.

"Good night, " I waved.

Once he left, I went to Ed's room, she had fallen asleep, this time her sketchbook was in her hand, she had drawn a beautiful skirt.

I took the sketchbook from her hand, then I helped her lay better, as I covered her with the blanket, I had a smile on my face.

She was so beautiful, so lovely, I  once thought of finding her real parents and telling them about her, yet the idea irked me out, the fact that the man who dumped her was willing to do so right in front of me without bating an eye.

"I love you baby, more than anything else in this world, " I whispered, tucking her hair behind her ear, then I kissed her forehead and headed out of her room, closing the door as quiet as I could.
