Chapter 33:
The Difference Between
The Sun and The Moon

The loud slap echoed throughout the halls of Nix's castle, the force of it sending Thor back, twirling in the air, before it crashed down onto the ground, even sliding a couple of feet before coming to a stop. It was honestly rather impressive to see.

"I always thought a slap was for people who were too weak to punch, but the way it made his body spin before landing has changed my mind!" Loki said seriously, walking over to Nix. "How is your hand? My brother has a rather thick skull."

"Somewhat stringing, but that felt rather nice," Nix said, shaking her hand to cool it down, but Loki took it instead, kissing the palm softly which made her blush.

"I got to agree with Loki," Thor said, getting up from the floor looking dizzy, "yes, it might not hurt as much as being punched straight in the face, but the spin was rather disorientating... Oh," he seemed to realize he was facing the wrong way, and turned around to face the throne again, "so, we good?" He held two thumbs up blinking innocently.

"It's a start," Nix said with a teasing smile, but sighed as she sat back down on her throne, eyes tight, "but yes, believe it or not Thor, I too do not wish for a fight between our realms."

They had escorted Thor to the true kingdom of Jotunheim, and were currently in Nix's throne room with a small audience of Jotun nobles and knights.

"Great!" Thor clapped his hands together. "So you can just apologize to The Allfather and-" But he quickly stopped talking as he heard the growls from all around the room, Queen Nix's own lip curling slightly over her teeth, a low, angry, hissing sound coming from her.

"Thor, the Jotuns have nothing to apologize for," Loki said seriously, standing by Nix's side, "as much as they may have 'wronged' The Allfather, they too have suffered from his hands. They are not making unreasonable demands asking to break out from his reign."

Thor looked confused at that, closing his mouth and frowning slightly. "... I don't think we can convince Father to just let this go, he is very upset right now..." He looked at Loki with a worried expression. "So is Mother."

Loki felt his nails scrape across the armrest of Nix's chair, his hand having rested there close to Nix's and she quickly took his hand, stroking a soothing thumb across the back of his. "Thor," Nix said, looking down upon the Asgardian Prince, "we are not just going to bend over backwards to apologize to our oppression in hopes that things will get better."

Nix gestures to him, tilting her head slightly. "If someone stronger than Asgard came, claiming to have the right to rule over you all, would you just kneel down for them and let them take over? Even if their claim might be true?"

Thor's lips tightened as he thought about that, but they all knew what the answer would be. "... No... We would not go down without a fight, even if they did have a true claim to the throne and realm," he whispered, shaking his head and sighed, "okay yeah I see your problem, but then I don't know how to fix it!"

"Of course you don't," Nix said, waving a hand rather dismissively, "because that was never your strong suit, was it?" Her tone had a teasing edge to it as she turned to Loki. "When it comes to talking their way out of a situation, I believe your brother is the one who shines the brightest."

Loki smiled warmly to Nix, but sighed looking down slightly. "Sadly I never have managed to talk my way out of situations when it comes to Odin, and I don't think he would be more inclined to talk to me now."

"Even Mother can't calm him down right now," Thor said, his voice worried as he rubbed his forehead, "I am starting to understand how Loki has felt watching me be blinded by rage in the past." Thor's face contorted into a grimace.
