Epilogue:
Forever After

The morning air was fresh as Loki walked out on the balcony to look over his and Nix's kingdom. It didn't look that different from when he first came here, but it had been almost a year since they gained their independence and with The Casket of Winter and The Glacium Nexus back where they belonged, they had been rapidly expanding as their people once again flourished.

The Kingdom had also adapted a lot to all the changes, mainly the fact that The Nine Realms were now a union, and no longer something that any one person ruled, and because of that there had an increase of trading between the kingdoms, the Jotuns chocolate quickly becoming a bit hit all across the realms, even with places like Midgard that already had chocolate.

And so it was not just Jotuns that Loki could spot from the balcony, he could see a lot of different people walking through the streets, Asgardians, Dwarfs, Fairies, even some humans. He was sure Crystal and Fendral were down there right now, or still in bed together somewhere. They had truly become a couple, but an open kind, meaning it was not uncommon to see them with a third person between them.

Speaking of couples it seemed Thor and Sif had finally stopped fighting and were starting a courtship. Thor had refused to talk to her before she apologized to Loki, and though the apology had not seemed fully genuine, Loki still hoped he could go back to being somewhat friends with Sif as he had always respected her.

His mother had given Odin the same kind of ultimatum. And while their relationship was still strained, Loki had to admit that Odin was doing a lot of good work to atone for his sins, not only against Loki, but against Nix and Laufey as well. He and Nix had even talked about letting Odin visit the next time Frigga came over, but they had not reached a final decision yet.

Laufey's old castle, after being restored by the magic within The Casket of Winter, had been reformed to diplomatic housing for the other realms when they came by. Laufey had been more then happy about that as he moved into a more cozy place close to Nix castle, enjoying his retirement and using his time to getting to know Loki and vise-versa, and while it was still awkward to call Laufey dad, it was something they both gotten more comfortable with.

The peace between the realms was also going well. The biggest problem for a while had been Queen Ivory, but after Hela visited her kingdom, Ivory has suddenly become a lot more cooperative and stopped causing so many problems. Hela had been surprisingly cooperative, after her title had been fully recognised she seemed to be pretty content with her situation.

"Loki?" He heard the voice of his love call, and he smiled warmly as he turned around to face her. "Yes dear?" He asked, his voice full of love. Nix smiled warmly as she walked out to him, standing by his side and sliding a small blanket around his shoulders. "It's rather chilly," she said, stroking his cheek softly, "how are you feeling?" Loki smiled and pulled her down for a quick kiss. "I'm feeling great."

It was true. He had monthly checkups with the Jotunn healers, and his health has improved a lot, making him realize just how bad it had been before. Coulson, the Midgardian agent with the pleasant smile, had compared it to getting glasses for the first time, saying a lot of people did not realize how bad their vision was before they got the right prescription.

With his health being better, Loki had also started growing, he was still one of the smallest adult Jotuns, but it had only been a year, so he was hopeful. The most enjoyable thing about his new heigh was being able to casually use Thor as an armrest, a thing that resulted in playful fighting more than once.

Thor and him were truly back to being brothers, their relationship better than it had been for years, Loki no longer being bitter and Thor no longer arrogant. Thor often came to visit alongside Volstagg, and they always brought the party along with them.

Of his old friend group, Hogun was probably the one Loki still was the most indifferent about, but none of them minded that. Some people just didn't get along, even if they had in the past, and that was okay.

Loki still had people he would call his true friends, not only from Asgard and Jotunheim, but from across the Nine Realms. He and Hela had been able to get along surprisingly well, mostly from complaining about Odin being hypocritical.

So he had his family, his friends, and of course, his very lovely wife.

It had not taken long for Nix and Loki to be married, but they had not rushed it either, both focusing on the kingdom's stability first, but once everything was ready, their wedding was held, and it was the biggest event of the year. Everyone had been invited, and no one dared miss it.

Nix smiled warmly at him as she looked out over their kingdom too. "Let me guess, you are recalling the year's events to yourself while taking in the morning scenery," she said in a teasing voice, grinning down at him. "My wife knows me all too well," Loki said with a chuckle, pulling her down again for a long kiss.

"It has been a rather eventful time," Nix said, looking at the kingdom before facing Loki again, gently taking his hand and giving it a kiss. Loki chuckled happily, looking up at her with all his love. "Yes, it has..." He sighed slightly and looked out over the kingdom. "We grew a lot and I just... I kind of wished she could see it."

His mom, Farbauti, who he never met beyond his time in Mímisbrunnr. It still felt like she was here, even though she was forever resting in Glæsisvellir, and every time something big happened, like his wedding, a part of him was sad she could not be there.

"Loki," Nix said gently, taking his hand and holding it over her heart, "I am sure if she could see all of this, could see you, she would be happy... But even if she can't, if the waters of Glæsisvellir do not let her see the world as it is now, she knows you are alive and well, and that is all that matters to her... She loves you and just wants you to be happy."

"Thanks," Loki said, smiling up at her as he felt her heartbeat under his fingers and then sighed, "I just wish there was a way I could honor her name," Loki said, trying to think of something, "naming a temple or building after her seems wrong, like her status was all that mattered... I wanna remember her as a person, not a title."

"Hmm," Nix hummed softly, guiding his hand that was over her heart down slowly, "well, we Jotuns don't really do the whole 'surname after your parents' thing that Asgardian does, but we could still use her name in a family sense."

"Oh yeah?" Loki chuckled, looking out upon their kingdoms again as he thought about that. "Do you have something in mind?"

"Well," Nix said, having moved Loki's hand to her lower stomach, letting it rest there, "we could name our daughter after her," she whispered, a grin on her face as Loki suddenly noticed the small but hard bump under his hand.

"... Wait, what?"
