Chapter 37:
We Need everyone for True
Peace Between the RealmLoki paused in front of the doors to the diplomacy room, feeling doubt set into his heart as his hands hovered over the handle.
What if the prophecy he made was wrong? What if it was true but they executed it wrong? What if he failed? What if-
He felt a strong hand on his shoulder, and turned to look at his brother standing by his side. Seeing the trust and hope in Thor's eyes, Loki felt all his worries vanish as fierce determination set in their eyes.
"Together," Loki said, making Thor nod. "Together."
And so they shoved the doors of the to the diplomacy room up, putting in enough force that they most likely dented the wall as the doors swung open and entered together.
The whole room paused and turned to look at who had entered in complete shock as the two brothers walked in, one recognizable, and the other very clearly a Jotunn now.
"Odin," Loki called out, looking directly at The Allfather, "we need to talk."
The silence in the room continued for another second, the arguing and fighting that had been going on only moments before they entered seemed to have frozen like one had taken a picture to forever capture this moment in time.
And then the voices exploded once again.
"WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!" King Eitri yelled out, looking more confused than angry, but perhaps that was just because Loki had not seen the man without a scowl since he first met him.
"HE'S A JOTUNN?!" Sif called out, having stood by Odin's side and looking horrified."Oooooh!" Ivory grinned like a young maiden who just caught a child with their hand in the cookie jar, "Odin's been keeping seeecrets!"
"Thor?! What are you doing?!" Hogun called out, standing close to his King and Queen. They did not seem as surprised at the others, though they did raise some eyebrows at Loki's appearance.
"The right thing," Thor said seriously, facing Odin while standing firm at Loki's side. "Father, you built this room for diplomacy, but it seems as though it has turned into a battlefield."The room went silent from that, as all eyes turned to look at The Allfather and await his response.
Odin's eye was dark, and aimed at Loki. His grip tightening around Gungnir and his teeth grinded against each other so fiercely it was the only sound in the room.
Loki closed his eyes and sighed. It seemed the man he had once called father had no more love or mercy for the boy he once had called his son, and it honestly didn't surprise him. But that was not what he came here for anyway.
Loki opened his eyes and stepped forward. "This room was built so that the Nine Realms could talk and achieve true peace, and yet it failed," he said seriously, walking over to the table slowly. "It failed for many reasons. It failed because some people at the table thought themself above the others, and so didn't have to respect them in any way. It failed because some people could not let go of old grudges and others refused to atone for old sins."
"It failed because people walked into the room only thinking about what they wanted to obtain instead of what would be good for all of the realms." Loki put his hands on the table surface, staring down at his father. "And it failed because not everyone received an invite."
He saw how the old man's eye widened from that, both in realization and horror as his grip on his weapon tightened so much the material under groaned in protest. "Loki...." He whispered, his eye wide in both anger and fear. "What have you done?"
