Mystic Falls, Virginia, 25 November 2010
As usual when the Salvatore brothers hatched a plan, it failed miserably. Upon reaching Mystic Falls Klaus received the news that in their attempt to save Jeremy, Matt and April, Stefan lost sight of Connor and in the end Elena Gilbert killed him for what he did to her brother. Anastasia did find it a bit amusing that all they had done was for Elena and she'd been the one to screw up the plans – but chose not say it out loud.
Their first stop in Mystic Falls became the Lockwood Mansion. Why Anastasia didn't know but considering Klaus's foul mood she chose not to question his decisions unless she really wanted to. As usual, Klaus entered without bothering to knock and they found out that Tyler wasn't home. Instead there were three other people having a drinking party – or funeral service – for their fallen hybrid friend.
Two of the strangers, Anastasia recognised as hybrids. The third was a pretty brunette girl that Klaus addressed as Hayley – the girl he thought Tyler had a fling with in the Appalachians – and explained was a werewolf. Rather than waiting inside with the hybrids and werewolves, Klaus decided to raid Mayor Lockwoods liquor cabinet.
"Are all vampires and hybrids borderline alcoholics?" Anastasia asked, leaning against the wall as she watched him read the labels.
"Yes, just like all witches – young, old, dead or alive – are a pain in the arse," Klaus said, not bothering to turn around.
"Thank god I am not a witch then," Anastasia said, busying herself with making sure Mayor Lockwood's plants looked more alive and fresh. Klaus didn't like when she used her magic on plants, considering it a waste since she'd siphoned it from him.
Klaus then grabbed a bottle and removed the cork. "It seems the boy of the house has returned," he took a swing of the bottle as he exited. They entered the parlour just in time to see Hayley wiping her thumb across Tyler's bottom lip and then she stuck her thumb into her own mouth.
"Well, don't let me interrupt," Klaus said mockingly, announcing their arrival.
Tyler took a breath as if to hold in his anger. Then he turned to face the hybrid, "I didn't know you were here."
"Clearly," Klaus said angrily – which probably was rooted in a mixture of losing the hunter and the disrespect shown to Caroline. Klaus took a swing from a bottle of alcohol he'd found. "I just popped round to celebrate Dean's successful retrieval of the vampire hunter. Yet when I arrived, I learnt that not only was Dean unsuccessful, but that Elena killed the hunter."
"Well, maybe if you had let Dean use force on Connor instead of sending him in on a suicide mission," Hayley snapped at him.
"Maybe you should mind your business, wolf girl," Klaus said warningly. "Or I'll have my little siphon set you on fire," he looked over at Anastasia who leaned in the doorway, staying out of the conversation. "She has been itching to set something on fire for weeks now."
