"KOL!"

Niklaus's unpleasant voice echoed through the mansion as he entered; after having picked up Kol's scent nearby he was now confident that his little brother hadn't been killed by the Gilberts. This did, however, raise the question of how he'd managed to survive an attack by the White Oak Stake.

Even without vampire hearing, it was hard to miss Klaus's entrance. With the Original Hybrid's vampire speed and enhanced smell, he managed to enter the kitchen a second before Anastasia regained control of her own actions and pushed Kol — who either didn't hear anything or was too slow to act — away from her. But it was too late...

Of all the things Klaus expected to see when he came home, Kol making out with Anastasia was not on the list. In fact, the only list that scene ever would make is the list of his worst nightmares. Klaus froze in place just as Anastasia pushed Kol away from her. Klaus glanced between Kol and Anastasia, his breathing growing heavier.

Whereas Anastasia's mouth opened and closed repeatedly like she was trying to talk but couldn't find the right words, Kol just looked mildly annoyed and angry when he looked back at Klaus. It wasn't the first time Klaus had accidentally walked in on Kol and a girl — it was, however, the first time he'd actually cared about the girl in the mix.

"Are you here to finish what the dopplebitch started?" Kol sneered, glaring at him as he ran a hand through his messed up hair.

Rather than giving a verbal answer, because Klaus's anger was growing to the point where he couldn't string two words together, he growled and went to attack Kol. While Kol had expected the attack and managed to block the first punch, Anastasia let out a startled sound when the brothers suddenly were locked in a violent fight.

Being the attacker, Klaus managed to gain the upper-hand and used it to throw Kol across the room, through the glass doors leading into the living room. "What the hell!" Anastasia yelled, jumping off the kitchen island as the two vampires disappeared into the next room.

She ran after them just as Kol managed to grab a piece of glass from the floor and jammed it into Klaus's shoulder. Anastasia cried out in pain only that the Mikaelson brothers mistook her scream for shock because the very same moment, Klaus picked up the fire iron and shoved it into Kol's stomach, sending the younger vampire to his knees.

Most other vampires would have taken this as a defeat, but Kol wasn't known for knowing when to stop. He growled angrily while pulling out the fire iron and shoved it into Klaus's leg. Anastasia bit her tongue to prevent herself from screaming as tears welled in her eyes; a long time ago she'd learned not to let her pain through her bond with Klaus distract him during a fight since it only would put both of them in more danger.

When Klaus was momentarily immobilised, Kol took the opportunity to gain the upper hand. In a blink of an eye, Klaus's back hit the wall with Kol's hand in his chest. The pain became too much for Anastasia who cried out loudly as she dropped to the floor, clutching her heart. This time, Kol couldn't mistake her cry of pain and realisation – combined with horror – dawned on him when he noticed the siphon hunched over on the ground.
