Mystic Falls, Virginia, 9 January 2011

Christmas in Mystic Falls didn't exactly live up to the holiday spirit one saw portrayed of small towns in Hallmark movies. Of course that could have something to do with the events that transpired shortly after Anastasia left the Winter Wonderland party.

Much like Anastasia suspected, Caroline didn't have any pure intentions for keeping her and Klaus occupied. Admittedly, Anastasia wasn't surprised that the blonde was trying to play them, but at the same time Anastasia did feel a little betrayed. For somebody who held a general distrust for people, Caroline's betrayal didn't do anything to change that.

Apparently the reason Caroline was so keen on keeping them busy and Stefan broke into the mansion to find the Hunter's sword was that Tyler Lockwood and the other — now unsired hybrids — planned to take Klaus down. The plan was a bit unclear to Anastasia, but their genuine idea was to perform a body jumping spell to put Klaus's body into Tyler's and encase it in concrete until all the hybrids safely had disappeared.

Hayley Marshall was the whistleblower behind the plan. Whatever intentions she had for throwing Tyler and the hybrids under the bus, Anastasia didn't know. But the girl now had the blood of twelve hybrids on her hands because when he found out about their plan.

Adding to the bloodshed of the evening, Klaus took out his revenge on Tyler by killing his mother. The night of the Winter Wonderland party, Mayor Carol Lockwood had been found dead in a fountain. The official cause of death was drowning due to her being drunk, but for everyone aware of the supernatural community around Mystic Falls, it was very obvious that it was a lie to keep the oblivious townspeople calm.

Anastasia honestly didn't know much of what had happened in town after that. For once her complaining and whining paid off, so Nik took her to a skiing lodge up in Canada for the holidays to spare himself from her constantly pointing out that a Christmas without snow and freezing cold weather felt wrong.

It also proved to be a nice pause from all the drama in Mystic Falls and when they returned back to Virginia, it became more obvious for Anastasia that they would never be happy there. Klaus was an entirely different person in Mystic Falls where he always felt the need to act like the villain and live up to the expectations everyone had on the big bad hybrid. Now he just wanted them to find that stupid cure so Klaus could get his hybrids and they'd be able to leave this place.

With Klaus out on business, Anastasia once again had to get used to spending her days alone with her dogs. The one thing Anastasia didn't mind about that was that at least her dogs were loyal and kind unlike the population of Mystic Falls. So if she had to spend time with anyone, she was happy that it was her canine friends.

"Sit," Anastasia said, looking down at Vader that slowly but surely followed her command and sat down on the living room floor in front of her. "Good boy," she said, throwing a dog treat to him. "Now spin around," she said, doing a circle with her hand just looking up at her with his big dark eyes.
