All I wanted

Chapter 5

Last night Charlotte died and Murphy was banished while I was just in camp with the others. It eats me up because maybe I could have done something. I might have been able to save her.

I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight, which is why I'm sitting outside watching the stars. I've always loved it, but it's even more beautiful from the ground. Finn and Clarke left camp together tonight and I really liked it, after all he's still Raven's boyfriend.

I get a stab in my heart at the thought that I may never see her again. A shooting star distracts me from my thoughts, but when I look at it more closely I realise that it's not a shooting star at all. I slowly stand up and take a closer look.

Since Clarke and Finn are gone, I don't know who to go to, so I run to Bellamy's tent. "Bellamy, get out here!" I go into the tent without thinking about it, which I quickly regret, as he is lying half naked in the tent with two girls. He also looks at me in amazement.

"What happend?" I point my head outside and leave the tent as quickly as I entered it. Octavia and a few others are already standing outside. "There." She points to the thing that is approaching the ground at high speed. "There coming to help us."

After Bellamy disappears into one of the tents with a few of his boys, Octavia and I follow. By now everyone is dressed again and standing around the table. "Right. If it cleared the ridge, its probably near the lake."

"We should get moving. Everyone's ready." Bellamy looks at me sceptically. "No one's going anywhere. Not while it's dark. It isn't safe. Well head out at first light. Pass the word."

After the boys have left the tent, I and Octavia stop Bellamy. "Everyone for a hundred miles saw this thing come down. What if the Grounders get to it first?" Octavia also seems to share my opinion. "Bell, we should go now."

"I said, we wait until sunrise!"

I watch Bellamy leave the camp and follow him. He runs through the forest and sets off alone in search of the small spaceship. I'm close behind him as Octavia runs towards him. "Bellamy!"

He stops and turns round. "What are you doing? Go back to the camp. It's not safe." She runs to him and stops close in front of him. "You lied to everyone! You lied to me. You want what's in the capsule..."

"Listen, just go home!" "You always want to play big brother, huh? Well, guess what? I'm the greasy one. You're just a selfish arse!"

"I did this for you! To protect you. If the Ark finds out we're still alive, they'll come down. And if they do... I'm dead." My breathing quickens and I don't understand what they're talking about.

"What did you do?"

"I shot him."

"I shot Jaha."

"What?" "I found out they were going to send you to Earth. I couldn't let you go alone. Someone came to me and made me a deal. Do this, kill him, and they would take me to the transport ship ... And I did it."

"You killed the chancellor?" "He floated our mother. He locked you up. He deserved it." Octavia gave him a pained look while I still stood behind the tree and listened to them.

"I didnt ask you to do that." "Youre right. I made the choice. This is one me. Whatever they sent down. I will take care of it."

Octavia looks at him again and then runs back to the camp. I take a step to follow when I step on a branch and Bellamy immediately turns round again. He now looks me straight in the eye. "Lillya?"

I walk slowly forwards and stop far enough away from him, but he walks right up to me. "What are you doing here?" "I heard what you said to Octavia." "You were spying on us?!"
