So long as the sun breathes light into life,
I hope you, too, will breathe love into me.

"Alola~!"

You can't help but sharply quirk your eyebrow at Avery's appearance. As her soft skin glitters golden beneath the bare Alolan sun, so too does her outfit: a pink and black dotted bikini, matching, perfectly fitted to her fair shapes in a way that might have attracted your eyes if you weren't so focused on her corniness instead. Leave it up to her to embarrass you in one way or another, even when no one else is around.

"Alola?" you scoff. "Seriously?"

Avery tilts her head, puffing her cheeks up in a pout as she throws her hands on her hips. "C'mon, dude! What did I tell you about local Alolan etiquette?"

"Something about beaches." You tap a finger to your chin. "Z moves... and..."

"No, idiot. None of that. We greet each other by saying alola."

"Hola?"

"Alola."

"Hoola hoop?"

"Dude—"

"Aloha!"

"That's not..." Avery gives up, pinching the bridge of her nose and sighing heavily. "Nevermind." You win. Again. The whole plane ride over here was a blast, but really only for you. You teased Avery just about every second she kept herself awake. Now that you're here, it continues.

The Alola region, Avery's birthplace.

Coupled with her sister, she rarely speaks of it. Hardly acknowledges it. The only time she pays the place any mind is when you're over at her house gawking at her Z-Crystal collection. She's got a few; some with dull colors and rock markings studding the center, others crystalline blue and donning water and ice-type marks. According to her she's only used one of them in battle with Vaporeon, but you never asked exactly why that was.

Even then, she never dwells on her home very much. The conversations regarding Alola typically end with her bouncing to an entirely irrelevant topic to avoid hearing the region's name again.

However...

Here, she can't escape it. The sand she stands on is Alolan sand. The ocean blue sky she glares at is the sky belonging to one of Alola's gorgeous beaches.

She turns to the beach chair next to yours and begins to take a seat, but on her way, she pauses, uttering a soft "oh" as she looks at the small figure filling her chair. Tufts of smooth green fur greet her beneath the beach umbrella's shade, a Pokémon basking in the glory of that pocket of cool air.
