Ax sits outside Ridith's house; the night had fallen a while ago and yet they couldn't sleep.

It was a usual occurrence for sleep to evade him, that's why he commonly sat outside smoking. Not that night, however, for once he was sitting doing something else.

They supposed being a changeling could be of use sometimes, he tended to make his hair longer to calm down when things got difficult. When they play with their hair it makes them feel safe.

So, he sits outside running his fingers through his hair, they sigh a little finally feeling calm for the first time in a while. He only stops when the front door opens and Kin walks outside.

They stare at each other silently for a moment. Kin looks wrecked. Having faer brother go missing and not having any clue on how to find him would take a toll on just about anyone.

Ax taps the ground beside him, offering for kin to sit down beside them. Fae quietly accepts and sits down beside Ax. They stay silent for a while.

Ax didn't know what to say, he couldn't say anything to make Kin feel better.

"Your hair is long..." He hears kin mumble, partially to faemself. Ax blinks, almost having forgotten that he'd made their hair longer.

"Yea... it helps me to stay calm" Ax responds, before shrugging and glancing at Kin. Fae looked so tired, it pained Ax to see.

He wasn't good at comfort. They never had been.

"do...uh..." Ax starts and motions at his hair "You wanna do something with it?" they offer, awkwardly glancing away from Kin. When they look back at kin fae nods, and ax moves so that his back is facing the tiefling.

They both stay silent as Kin runs faer fingers through his hair before deciding what to do with it. Ax looks at the stars while Kin does his hair, being oddly gentle about it.

Ax fidgets with their fingers, it wasn't used to having other people touching his hair. But this wasn't making them uncomfortable he was enjoying himself.

Kin made him feel safe, it was odd, but they didn't want to dwell on that so late into the night. By the time Kin had finished with his hair, Ax had almost fallen asleep numerous times. He moved his position again, having its back against the wall of Ridith's house.

Kin joins him again, the both of them incredibly tired. Ax rests his head on Kin's shoulder.

They stayed like that for a while, not a word spoken.

Inevitably they fell asleep leaning on one another. They felt safer by each other, which they'd dwell on when it came to it.

Fornow, they were finally getting rest.
