tw: self harm? gore? he cuts his arm off. (not medically accurate cause its dnd what did you expect?)

Ax thought the pain in his arm couldn't get worse, originally it wasn't bad, a dull ache here and there but manageable.

Then it got worse, the more it spread throughout his arm the more it ached, but it would subside after a while. Ax knew why it was happening, well, what was causing it rather.

Surface level, he could figure out it was Kalroth.

Was Kalroth aware of this? From what Ax could tell the answer was no.

Kin had tried to comfort him, it helped a bit. They talked, but Ax wouldn't divulge about his arm, that didn't seem to bother kin as fae wanted him to join faem at the inn.

Ax had two options, lie or lie.

"I'll... I'll join you in a little, I just need some time... okay?" was the best he mustered. Kin looked at them quizzically, before nodding and standing up.

"you don't want your coat back?" they blurt out, making kin look at him again. Fae smile and shake faer head.

"Keep it for tonight, moonshine," Fae say, faer voice gentle, caring even. "I'll see you in the morning" Ax can only nod in response, watching faem walk away. Further and further until he couldn't see them anymore, not that his sight was that good.

He knew kin wouldn't like their plan.

Hell, Kal would probably try and stop him. But Ax knew that whatever was happening to him wasn't good.

They would rather lose the arm than let it spread further.

It didn't care how much it hurt, it'd be better than the entire arm hurting. At least it wasn't his left arm.

Ax removed kins coat, folding it as best he could and putting it off to the side before removing Kalroth's jumper, he could feel eyes staring at him.

"Kal, don't you have anything better to do?" he spits out, refusing to turn around. Their hands are shaking. It wanted to put the coat back on.

"Ax, ya feelin' alright?" the usually cheerful voice dripping with worry.

A sickening about of worry.

"Just-! Just leave me alone Kal, I don't need you bugging me." They hear a noise of dejection before the cabin door opens and closes.

Kalroth was trying to give him space.

That's all Ax needs.

Firstly they take off their tank top, cutting a line of fabric out before using that and tying it as tightly as he could around his arm. Then they grab Kalroths jumper, biting down on the sleeve.

Screaming wouldn't be a good look.

He grabs his – now only – dagger, bringing it up to his right arm. They take time to try and cut into the space just above where the darkness hadn't yet spread.

Maybe it was the adrenaline or their motivation but it didn't take long to get through bone.

By the time it was over Ax dropped the dagger, the amount of blood that was coming from him was terrifying.

They didn't dare remove the sleeve from his mouth, but they couldn't just sit there. That's how you die.

But he couldn't move.

He heard the cabin door opening again, but he couldn't look. His vision grew blurry.

The last thing he heard was Kalroth.

"Ax- Ax! What the fuck?!"

And his last thought before he lost consciousness? 'Kin is going to kill me.'
