//tw for discussion scars, both s/h and not//
Kalroth groaned as he was awoken, hearing heavy breathing coming from the person pacing around the room. It took him a moment to gather his thoughts, as his head was banging. God, he must've drunk a lot more than he thought he would.
He covers his eyes as he rolls onto his back. It wasn't the first time Kalroth woke up beside a man without remembering the night before, but this time was different, he had been with Koa the entire time, so...
Oh, so that's exactly what happened.
He uncovers one of his eyes, looking at Koa. He could only see the back of the taller man, but he could tell the tiefling was frozen in front of the mirror. Kalroth sits up, and before he says anything he catches a glimpse of himself in the mirror behind Koa.
He slowly raised one of his hands, covering his neck. He could feel the shame creeping up his back, but he attempted to shrug it off.
It wasn't the time for his insecurities. He needed to focus on Koa.
"Darlin'?... what're you doin'?" Kalroth asks, pulling Koa's attention away from himself and onto him instead. Kalroth watched as Koas legs began to shake, clearly whatever worrying him finally wearing him down.
Koa's legs give out quicker than Kalroth can blink and there's a loud thudding noise that echos around the room, and he could hear a quiet "Sorry..." from the tiefling.
Kalroth quickly got off the bed almost getting tangled in the sheets due to the speed he rushed over to Koa. He sits down behind Koa, due to the tiefling being taller than him he didn't have to actively look at his own scars, he rests his hands on Koa's shoulders and gently begins to rub circles in an attempt to calm his partner. He leans in and kisses the base of koas neck before asking quietly "what's wrong darlin'?"
Koa shudders at the pet name and it makes Kalroth feel guilty, what happened was clearly still affecting Koa. Kalroth can't do much but wrap his arms around Koa's front and hug him from behind.
Suddenly Koa speaks up with a quiet "It's silly..." to which Kalroth raises an eyebrow and makes eye contact with the reflection of Koa.
The longer the silence the more visibly embarrassed Koa got, looking away from his and Kalroth's reflections. He continues after taking a deep breath, "it's... just not how I wanted this to go..." he stops for a moment before mumbling. "I didn't want to get drunk, and it go like... that" Koa turns back to the mirror to look at Kalroth, Kalroth smiles gently at him, encouraging him to continue, he wants to hear the rest of what Koa has to say. He rested his chin on Koa's shoulder, waiting.
"I just wanted it to be special... romantic, y'know?" Koa mumbles before covering his face with his hands "Ugh... this is so stupid." He grumbles, still hiding his face in his hands. Kalroth giggles a little at Koa's reaction before letting go of him and moving around, sitting in the tieflings lap and facing him directly.
He takes Koa's hands and removes them from hiding his gorgeous face. "I don't think it's stupid, it's real sweet actually," Kalroth says, grinning giddily. Kalroth had never been in a relationship like this, where his partner cared about more than just their own needs and wanted something nice for them both. "I didn't think you were such a charmer, darlin'" his comment made Koa look off to the side bashfully, and oh lord, Kalroth found it adorable.
Once they had settled in the moment for a while Kalroth took Koa's hand and squeezed it. "can I ask what got you so caught up in the mirror?" he asks, he doesn't want to pry too much and make Koa uncomfortable. However, that doesn't stop him from being concerned for his boyfriend.
Koa hadn't expected to be asked about it as he looked up at Kalroth with a surprised expression that quickly faded into something sadder "I... I never really got a chance to look at... all this." Koa uses his free hand to gesture to the scars on his body "'m sorry.."
Kalroth frowns at the deflated tone in Koa's voice. "am guessin' it's ain't for a good reason ya reacted like this?"
Koa shakes his head "Bad memories... I don't think I'll ever like them" Kalroth nods in response, aware of his own body again. His hand subconsciously reached up again to cover the ugly scar on his neck.
He knows how it feels, it's a horrible feeling. He'd learned to deal with his other scars, just not the most obvious one, and having to see them everyday caused him a great deal of painful memories.
Kalroth doesn't notice that Koa has grabbed his scarf from beside them until he wraps it around Kalroth's neck. Kalroth lowers his hand and smiles softly at Koa. "thanks, doll"
"It's fine, you don't have to thank me," Koa mumbles, blushing slightly. Kalroth couldn't tell if it was from embarrassment or being flustered, but it was cute either way.
Kalroth wraps his arms around Koa's neck and kisses him, shocking the tiefling and they end up lying on the floor laughing at each other, Kalroth getting back on top of Koa just to kiss him over and over again until Koa inevitably gains the upper hand.
They'd talk about exactly what was next for them later, for now, they'd lie on the floor of the bedroom, hardly wearing anything, and laughing.
God Koa was everything Kalroth could've ever wished for and more, he couldn't be more lucky. Kalroth couldn't help but feel giddy that out of everyone Koa picked him.
Koa meant the world and more to this damaged soul, and Kalroth wasn't sure how exactly he could express that in a way for Koa to understand.
So being by the tiefling's side for as long as he lived would have to do.
