His guard was always up, his interests and hobbies locked behind a safe, that had cement poured over it and thrown somewhere deep into the ocean.

His thoughts and feelings were kept between himself, his journal, and Kalroth. Ax swore if Kal read his journal one more time there wouldn't be a Kal to read a journal anymore.

So he kept everyone at arm's length, he never remembered things about them unless it was necessary. He even kept his father figure at a distance, not wanting to talk to him about their feelings.

Then he met Kin, and every time he learned about faem he was more interested to know more, which was a first.

He had begun to look at the stars, in hopes that he could understand faem better. It had begun as a small thing, but now he looks at the stars and thinks of Kin.

He couldn't tell if that was bad or not.

Convincing Kin to go through Zraz was a difficult task, but they managed. That's how they ended up on faer uncle's boat. It was late, but there was still crew around. Ax didn't know much about ships, or crews. He just knew that Kel is the captain, and Kin was second in command. And Koa did something.

He didn't know what all the other people were for but they seemed important, so he tried their best to not annoy them. It seemed its presence was enough to offend them. Ax had heard them mumbling about the coat, hell, Kel even gave him a look that was less than friendly.

They ignored it, walking off to the side of the ship and looking at the stars. It pulls the coat closer with its arm just staring.

He couldn't tell if kin were distant because of what he'd done to his other arm, or because fae went through Zraz. Either way, Ax couldn't blame faem. He couldn't understand why it made him feel upset though, he preferred this, right?

He heard footsteps approaching them, and a voice "Takin' after the second, are we?" which made Ax stand up straight, on guard.

Ax merely sends a glance zeir way before looking back at the stars.

"Not much of a talker, are ya?" Kel says, standing directly beside Ax "don't worry I'll talk enough for the both 'a us" The way ze says it, it doesn't sound like they have much of an option.

Ax did not like this.

"you've been avoidin' me, that's a bit fuckin' rude considering yer on my ship" Kel doesn't sound too pleased, and Ax can tell ze is looking at him "Not to mention ya walk on wearin' My second's coat, why's that?"

Ax wanted to leave and jumping off the ship seemed like a viable option. He keeps his mouth shut and continues to stare forward, as the moment passes, he can tell Kel is getting impatient.

They feel a hand grip their left shoulder and a cold voice "ya better start speakin', ya hear me?" ze sounds like zeir giving Ax a warning. They didn't like that, it didn't like this person.

They felt scared.

"Fae gave it to me." Ax mumbles out, gritting his teeth. The hand on his shoulder lessens somewhat but in a situation like this Ax couldn't tell if that was a good sign.

"Right, fae like ya, do fae? Puppy crush or somethin'?" Kel says, removing zeir hand from Ax's shoulder. Ax turns his head away from the stars, looking up at the captain with a confused expression.

"What are you talking about?"

"Ah don't mind it, you'll figure it out at some point," Kel says, as Ax turns his attention back toward the sky Kel mumbles "maybe."
