"Wait, so they're high right now?" Edward asked, covering his mouth to avoid laughing.
Maxine looked at Chase, then Jesse.
"Oh, fuck. Are you serious? Why would you give me laced kombucha, Jesse? What the fuck." Maxine asked, putting her hands on her head. "I fucking knew you guys were up to something this morning! Shit." She whispered as she looked around for cameras, "This could get me expelled!"
Everyone else was panicking. Edward stood over all of them, unable to stop giggling. But Jesse just sat there, playing with his watch.
Maxine watched as Kai and Chase hurriedly ran to the car, looking for something to help the cannabis wear off. Edward stayed and sat in front of her and Jesse. "Are you guys alright?" He asked, examining their facial expressions.
"I've never been stoned before, Ed," Jesse states, still not looking away from the abyss. "I'm kind of hungry, too. Like, unusually starved. Do you guys have anything to eat?"
Edward looked at Jesse, then started laughing quietly. "You've got a case of the munchies, Jesse." He stated while looking through my bag for food.
"Hey, boundaries. I don't have any food in there." Maxine said, pulling her bag from Edward's hands. "We could just go to the cafeteria. I'm also hungry."
"Alright. Where's the cafeteria?" Edward asked, helping Jesse up as he stumbled, unable to take his weight along with Jesse's.
"I don't know," Max answered, slurring. "It's on the other side of the hallway, but we're gonna have to pass by the junior corridor and I don't think that's a good idea."
While Edward and Maxine discussed a plan to get to the cafeteria, Jesse wandered off to a classroom near them, stumbling on a few desks. As the two realized that Jesse was no longer next to them, Kai and Chase ran into them, causing them all to slip on Jesse's bag on the floor which ended up sliding toward the front of a classroom door.
While Chase and Kai were helping Edward, Maxine crawled to Jesse's bag. "Wait, no. Max," Edward said as he quickly walked toward Max.
Once he caught up to her, they were a few feet from the front of another classroom door. There were students inside the room which caused Edward to panic, pulling Max by the leg and dragging her back to where Kai and Chase were. "Oh, my god, Edward. Let her go!" Kai said, grabbing Maxine by both of her arms and helping her stand up.
Once Maxine had shaken the dust off of her uniform, she punched Edward in the chest. Edward bent down in pain, holding his chest.
"Where is Jesse?" Chase asked.
They all looked at each other with worry in their eyes. Maxine quickly ran toward the nearest empty classroom and looked for Jesse. While the other three followed her.
"Jesse? Where are you? Come out, dude. I'm super duper late for my rehearsal," Maxine stated as she gently pushed desks out of her way. "Hold on, I'm gonna get his bag," Chase said, walking out of the room.
Because the bag was right in front of a classroom door, Chase had to crawl quickly to get the bag. Once he had gotten close to the bag, the door opened, unfortunately hitting his face. "Oh, my god. I'm so sorry, sir." A student said, helping him up.
"Are you fucki–" He stopped as he looked up only to see a child standing in front of him. "It's fine, I'm fine. Get to your classroom, kid." Chase answered as he held the handle of the bag in his left hand, holding his face with the other.
"But, sir? Are you not our substitute teacher for the day?" The student asked, opening the classroom door for Chase, causing him to feel a rush of anxiety. "Oh, fuck." He whispered under his breath before sighing.
