"Let's wrap up this store's contract. Good job everyone."Hearing his voice, Haein paused in her tracks. Through the glass panes, she could see her husband sitting at the head of the table as he led another team meeting. As always, he was wearing a tailor made Italian suit, as wrinkle-free as a baby's face. He wore a watch today too, which she noted with pleasure. She didn't know why, but there was something so attractive about Hyunwoo with a watch. He just looked extra sharp and professional.
He's so handsome.
What was wrong with her? They'd been married for three years and fallen out of love, yet out of nowhere, her heart throbbed for him again. Where had this attraction been the entire time? Had she just not been paying enough attention? Or was her brain messing with her again?
Look at the way his muscular arms lifted up the file, and the way the veins in his neck were particularly visible whenever he talked about something he was passionate about. Those dark seductive eyes and husky voice which never failed to send shivers down her spine.
"Na Biseo. Are there women whose hearts still race when they see their husbands despite being married for over three years?"
"Why would their hearts race?"
"Maybe... because they're handsome?"
"Do you know someone like that?" Na Biseo was dumbfounded.
"Yes I do. On some days, she looks him in the eye and wants to embrace him because she pities him. She feels bad that such a soft soul has to endure this harsh world."
It was true. Especially after a long family meeting where she watched her husband get pummelled by her family from the opposite end of the sofa, she wanted to give him a hug when she saw his defeated expression. But they were beyond that now. They did pretty much everything separately, even sitting on opposite ends of the sofa unlike Soocheol and Dahye who always sat close together.
"On other days, his shoulders look so broad. She wants him to hold her. He looks like a walking, sexy dynamite. She wonders if she should let the homme fatal roam freely in this world."
Today was one of those days. Since when were his shoulders so broad? Did he find time to exercise even with his tight schedule? She wondered how big his muscles would be if he flexed those beautiful arms of his. How could someone this handsome be allowed to work in the office like this? With glass walls? He would distract everyone with his good looks and their productivity would go down. How dare you be so handsome Baek Hyunwoo? How dare you make my heart flutter every time I see you?
"Please tell her to see a doctor. She's ill. Make sure she get a brain CT scan. Something's seriously wrong up there." Na Biseo's response snapped her out of her daydream.
"Hmm..." Without another word, Haein strode off to her office, finally peeling her eyes off her husband.
...
"Sajangnim, just out of curiosity, why are you walking around the office so much today?" Na Biseo asked.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, normally you just get one of us to bring in your coffee for you, and all the documents that you need to look through, but you've been going to get everything yourself today."
She was right. Haein had been jumping at every opportunity to leave her office, making sure to walk past the law department every time even if it required a detour. She'd insisted on getting her own coffee from the pantry today to the surprise of her assistants, and had personally gone to the separate departments to collect documents. She'd even gone to the law department twice, once to retrieve the documents, and once to return them.
Haein had tried to act as casual as possible, but it was proving more difficult than she'd expected. Seeing that Hyunwoo was focused on the document on his desk, she'd thought it was perfectly safe for her to ogle all she wanted. Unfortunately for her, Hyunwoo had a strong sixth sense and could feel her gaze on him. His head darted up and they made awkward eye contact, making Haein jump, nearly dropping the files in her hands. Flustered, she gave him a curt nod before walking away as fast as she could in her heels, feeling his eyes on her back the entire time.
Thanks to her strange behaviour, everyone was on edge. They'd all assumed that she was trying to survey their work to make sure that they weren't slacking. Why else would she be walking around the office? She was clearly waiting to catch a mistake of some unfortunate soul.
"I just thought that I should walk more for a change. It's good for my health not to be sitting in a chair all day isn't it?"
"Ah yes, but I thought you prioritised efficiency over everything else. Why walk around when you can pay others to do it for you? You've always hated it when we didn't already have things delivered to you before you needed them."
"I'm not that young anymore Na Biseo, at this age, I need to start looking out for my health more." Haein flipped her hair over her shoulder. But even as she spoke, her eyes were still focused in the direction of the law department.
Na Biseo did not buy it. Such behaviour was completely unlike her boss. Right now, she was acting like a teenager experiencing her first crush. She was doing everything she could to see him and got nervous when he was around. But why on earth was she doing that when he was already her husband? Couldn't she admire him at home? Furthermore, she had been at odds with him for the longest time, why was she suddenly taking a liking to him? She couldn't understand her boss at all.
"Oh and Na Biseo?"
"Yes Sajangnim?"
"Please ask the cleaners to clean the glass tomorrow.I don't want to see a speck of dust on them, they should practically be invisible."
"Yes Sajangnim."
